Personally, I feel the scene is trying to suggest how nuclear energy *should* be used. Not for weapons of war, but for the good of mankind and the Earth. A similar thing happens in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, and is the same basic idea of Astro Boy.

I'm intrigued by GxK supposedly being a Showa homage, but I feel like we're not understanding how that pertains exactly. While Godzilla's Showa era follows a particular aesthetic, each film has a unique identity with how they provide commentary and satire, as well as mix genres.

If you’re a Godzilla fan and have ever been curious about Ultraman but aren’t ready to commit to a tv series I would personally recommend Ultraman: The Next. It’s an awesome mix of sci-fi and action, written by Keiichi Hasegawa (GMK) and Effects Directed by Yuichi Kikuchi (GxMG).

I think my biggest issue with Shin Ultraman is how people talk about its staff. "From the brilliant mind of Evangelions Anno, and also directed by Higuchi I guess" is what it feels like. Anno wrote it, but Higuchi and his team were the ones to make everything work and look great
