Okay who is in for a thread of Grizzly Bear photos? I'll kick it off with one of mine. If you have any you'd like to share, please add them. Such beautiful animals, let's fill the timeline with a few of them.

What a treat it was to come across a Great Horned Owl with its horns still intact. The vast majority have shed theirs by this time of year, so great to see this one in all of its splendour!

I finally had a chance to check on my trail cams to see who has stopped by over the winter. This is by far the most exciting footage I've captured to date!

I've been holding onto this shot for some time now as I wanted to be sure they've moved on before sharing. Pretty exciting to see four (there was another on a lower branch) young Northern Saw-Whet Owls while out for a walk a few weeks back.

Still one of my favourite trail cam clips captured to date. Sometimes it's hard to believe these beauties are out wandering around in our neck of the woods.

I haven't had a lot of opportunity this winter to get out and look for owls. I finally had a chance to do so today and was excited to find a Northern Hawk Owl!

, here's one of my favourite clips captured to date. Can't wait to get back and see who has passed through this winter.

Okay fellow photographers, what was your favourite photo that you took this year? Mine was this Great Grey Owl. I'd love to see the shots that you're proud of or that have brought you the most joy.
It's a frosty day out there on this sixth day of
#ArtAdventCalendar
, so here's one I call "Snowy Owl on a Mini Wheat." Photo taken in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada.
It was a rare treat to see a Northern Saw-Whet Owl out in the open. It landed on this tree for a moment and flew off just moments later.

My first sighting of the rare and elusive Short-Legged Owl!
(For clarity, this is actually a Great Grey standing up after attempting to catch a meal).

It has been a bit tougher to get out to take photos lately, so it's nice when a Pileated Woodpecker shows up in the backyard.

It was a source of pride when
#stalbert
became the first municipality in Alberta to ban conversion therapy. To see our MP vote against the Federal ban is extremely disappointing. I think the community deserves an explanation from

: One of my most wonderful experiences of the year was this encounter with a Great Grey Owl who landed on this post after it had captured and devoured a vole in the snow just behind it.
Finding myself doing way too much doom-scrolling lately, so I need your help. I'd love to see a photo you've taken that brings a smile to your face. I'll start with this shot I took in May while on a trip I've dreamed of taking for years.

Taking some time this morning to remind myself that there is still tremendous beauty in this country of ours. I hope that we can find a path through our current situation and get back to respecting and caring for one another.

I'm not usually a fan of branches in my subject's face, but I actually kind of like the way these ones frame the Great Grey Owl's face.

I was out for a walk this morning and was watching a family of moose. As I was standing there, a pair of nearby coyotes took notice of us and started barking. As you can see it certainly caught the moose's attention.

Taking time this morning to remind myself of the beauty that resides in this province. We are blessed to live here and to call this place home. I'm committed to doing my part to help build a sense of community and to find ways to bring people together.
