Those PLG examples are legit but there’s too much survivorship bias involved. Slack didn’t become Slack because of invitations just like Hotmail didn’t become Hotmail because of their often-cited signature.
Bold predictions for 2021: Newsletter services will offer web-based reading because people can no longer handle the email load. They will call it blogs. New services will emerge that scrape those websites and deliver them via email. RSS will watch from the sidelines.
Disregarding the underlying tech, I wonder how the payment industry would look like had it seen the advent of Amex subsequent to Cryptos. Global acceptance, real-time transactions, low fees, buyer protection, flight miles, status symbol? Count me in.
