Saw this photo on instagram of Portland in Oregon. All of this was destroyed for a road. Had some beautiful facades but I guess once people lost the ability to walk they had to go…. 🤷🏻😉😬
Even if money was no object, could architects produce this? Could the glass box merchants know where to start? Is it in their interests that this never comes back?
I genuinely believe it’s been all decline since this. Cleaner, less traffic, slimmer healthier people, no ugly architecture, everyone dressed smarter and more stylish, a lot less plate glass shop fronts.
A couple of weeks ago when I visited London I went to see the new classical houses that replaced the post war modernist building on Hereford Square. Rather good! It can be done.
So at Easter I decided start to build a little house out of sheets of plastic card. I am not a model maker so please forgive that! Thought I would share. Based on a house in New York
