The thing is we gotta stop framing adversity and struggle with physical pain. Rey’s arc is her finding herself and accepting her role as hero, so any struggle is going to target that aspect of her character. And in that regard she struggles in every movie.

The "Rey never faces any adversity" discourse is so tiring because not only does she lose both of her parents but she also loses all three of her closest mentors (Han, Luke, Leia) one after another, & loses Ben as well. She deals with so much loss & that fact is always ignored.

Even if this was the case, even if Dathan for some reason kept the name Palpatine (he didn’t), the important fact is- Rey or ANYONE has every right to reject a name they don’t want associated with themselves. It really isn’t a hard concept to grasp.
