We have a great resource of solar generation in Alberta, but when the sun sets so does that supply. In summer the heat stays longer and so does demand. Conserving power between 5-9:30 pm helps - a little from each household helps a lot! More tips here:

At 2:43 p.m., the transmission line connecting AB to B.C. went offline unexpectedly. There was approx 700 MW of supply coming to Alberta at that time. The grid’s safety systems kicked in and temporarily caused local power outages. (1/2)
