@MartinSLewis Plan 1 loans were fair. Circa £20k debt, low interest rate, wiped after 25 years, repayable by high earners. Plan 5 loans are insane. Circa £50k debt, high interest rate, wiped after 40 years, impossible to repay. Future pension savings disaster too. Just go back to old system.

@moving_charlie Usually agree, but not this time. The historical sustainable average is about 5%. Five years from now, when the pain is over, people leaving university may be able to afford to buy a home, start a business, have more than one child without being financially crippled. Worth it
