I've been trying to join in with this
#booktwt
thing, and I didn't realise you were supposed to do an intro...
Some of my favourite authors:
- Agatha Christie
- Ruth Rendell
- Daphne du Maurier
- Joanne Harris
I'm in a crime book club, but read books in all genres.
Honestly, I'm so thankful that I came back to Twitter and became part of
#BookTwitter
. Before, I just felt like this weird book lady, rambling about books and boring everyone to death 😂 but now I feel like part of a community ❤️
So, yesterday my book club announced that the reading theme for the next month would be
@agathachristie
. I already have a ton of her books, and today I wandered into my local Salvation Army, and got carried away...
#BookTwitter
I followed a bunch of bookish Instagram accounts recently, and I'm getting more and more suggested to me, and now there are pictures of books all over my Instagram feed 📚📚📚 it's making me so hungry for books 😂 the same thing happened when I became part of
#BookTwitter
My bookish Twitter friends... This month, my book club's theme is books set in Ireland. I have a few ideas, but not many, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful 😊 thank you in advance! 💕
#BookTwitter
Tonight, I feel inclined to re-read one of my favourite books ever. I watched the 1940 film adaptation earlier which is why I was in the mood for it. This is one that I'll go back to time and time again 💕
#BookTwitter
Can I confess something? Ever since COVID hit, I still haven't got to a point where leaving the house feels as carefree as it once might have done. In some ways, going anywhere at all still feels like a big deal, and a hassle sometimes.
So,
#BookTwitter
, I've decided this is what I'm reading - 'Northern Lights' by
@PhilipPullman
I haven't read this before, but I have read one of his Sally Lockhart books - 'The Ruby in the Smoke', which I really liked. It still ties in with my book club's 'north' theme, ish 😂
One of my penpals asked me tonight if I would like some of her pre-loved books for my birthday 🥰 I should send her some of mine for her birthday, like a birthday book swap ❤️📚📚📚
In addition to re-reading Rebecca, and some books that I'm reading for the purpose of writing an honest review, I'm also reading this, which is a book that I've heard a lot about. It's a buddy read with a friend/penpal 🥰
#BookTwitter
I was feeling kind of downcast, then I opened Twitter, scrolled down to see pictures of books/bookish things, and adorable cats 📚 🐱 and now I feel so much better 😂 ❤️
My sister got me a new bookcase for Christmas, so I spent most of the evening putting some of my favourite books in it. I'm not sure it's clear from the pic, but my top shelf consists almost entirely of
@agathachristie
#BookTwitter
I don't know if anyone else cares, but this weekend it's going to be my birthday, and I'm going for afternoon tea, and I'm really excited 😂🥰☕ tea, scones and cake nom nom 🐷
I seem to be gaining bookish followers, so let's chat 😊 what are some of your favourite books, that you've read multiple times? 😊 Mine include Agatha Christie's 'Death on the Nile', Daphne du Maurier's 'Rebecca', and Frances Hodgson Burnett's 'The Secret Garden' ❤️
Other people: "Why are you buying more books? You haven't read all the ones you've got."
When you're a reader, you NEVER run out of things to read. There will always be more books added to the list 📚
Here is a photo collage I made of all the books I've read since the last meeting. Books read Jul 29th-Aug 25th 2022. Book club meeting in the morning, new theme tomorrow 🤩

READING A BOOK THAT MATCHES MY NAILS 💅📚
This week, my nails are painted with a sparkly red polish. I couldn't find any red books that were sparkly, so I decided to be clever. The book I've chosen is my copy of Agatha Christie's Sparkling Cyanide.
#BookTwitter
There are 26 books on my
@NetGalley
shelf, and I still have other reviews to do elsewhere.
Me: "I'm not going to request any more books on NetGalley, I still have loads to review."
Also me: "Oooh, that sounds like a really good book! And so does that one! And that one!" 😂
Wow, I wasn't expecting such a response to this 😂 thank you for the support! I read 854 books in 2023, which is why I'm hoping 1,000 will be doable. But we'll see.
#BookTwitter
My
#BookTwitter
friends, looking for some advice! When tweeting or bookstagramming about what you read, do you include e-books, and ARCs? I was wondering if I should start doing that. I read as many e-books as I do physical books, in reality.
Today when I arrived at Barnardo's, the bookshelves were almost bare...! I decided that was unacceptable, and being the hard working volunteer that I am, I wasted no time in filling them up with books that had been donated. I put out two whole crates of books 📚📚🥰
This is what I've been reading tonight, by
@mserinkelly
... It's been likened to a Daphne du Maurier novel, but it reminds me of a Ruth Rendell book as well. I like it a lot.
#BookTwitter
I started reading this tonight - have any other
@agathachristie
fans read this? Agatha Christie's Secret Notebooks by John Curran. I'm finding it extremely interesting 😊
#BookTwitter
Here are all the books that I read for my book club's Ireland theme - 29th Apr 2022 - 26th May 2022. Book club meeting in the morning and there'll be a new theme 😊 📚📚
#BookTwitter
When people ask me "what's your favourite genre of book?", I tell them I read a lot of mystery and cosy crime. Which is true... But then I remember I also love historical fiction, ghost stories, fantasy, classics... If it's a book, I'll read it, basically 😂
It seems that these days, I spend more time talking to my
#BookTwitter
friends, than people I've actually met in person 😂 but what can I say? You're an amazing community ❤️
So... This time around, my book club's theme is debut novels. Which may be an interesting one. So we're reading any book that was the first novel by that author. Suggestions welcome! Can anyone recommend a debut novel by an author that they thought was amazing? 💕
#BookTwitter
I remembered earlier today that it was Sir
@David_Suchet
's birthday, so this evening, I thought I'd read this 😊 and I'm going to watch some Poirot episodes on DVD too 🥰 happy birthday Sir David, &thank you for making myself and many other Poirot fans so happy ❤️
#BookTwitter
I just want to say thank you again to everyone supporting me with my reading goal, and to those of you who've followed me to see me hopefully meet that goal at the end of the year 📚📚📚❤️
At the book club's Christmas party, I got the most questions correct in the Christmas quiz. The prize was a Chocolate Orange. I'm so pleased with myself 😂
I do keep wondering why I have 500+ followers on Twitter, but only 50 on Instagram. Not that numbers matter, but my
#BookTwitter
followers actually show interest, whereas most of my insta followers don't, so I just feel like my Instagram is pointless 😂
I never watch the news these days, but now I'm at a point where just seeing the news online makes my mood plummet. And I know I can't be the only one. So
#BookTwitter
, let's lift the mood & talk about something all love - books! What was the last book you read, that you loved? 📚
When you're reading a book, and a character dies unexpectedly... And you spend the last 50 pages of the book sobbing into your cup of tea 😂😢😢 yeah, that's what just happened.
Does anyone else HAVE to have a cup of tea, or another hot beverage, while they are reading a book? It doesn't matter what time of day it is - if I'm about to read, I'll put the kettle on 😂
Been for a lovely walk and picnic with my family this afternoon 😊 now that I'm home, a cup of tea has been made, and brought into the garden along with a book. Back to reading 📚
This is silly, but I sometimes wish that when I'm looking at bookshelves in a public place, someone would come over and start talking to me about books. And that person would turn out to be my one, my soulmate. It's unlikely, but I keep hoping ❤️
Also, a big thank you to
@BookTasters
for my gift 😍 I'm really excited to read this, as I absolutely loved the first Dinner Lady Detectives book ☺️ it will be perfect for a Christmas read 🎄
@HendyHannah
#BookTwitter
A fellow booklover, Pauline, has kindly passed on some of her pre-loved books to me 😊 have any of my
#BookTwitter
friends read any of these? Which one shall I read first? Any suggestions? 😂❤️📚📚📚
I was crying over the ending of a book earlier. So, I thought, to cheer myself up, I could read this by
@richardosman
... I received it for Christmas, so it's been on my TBR for a while. I've heard so many good things, so I'm hoping it will make me laugh 😊
#BookTwitter
Another person: "What books can you recommend?"
Me: "Er..."
Every time someone asks me to recommend a book, my mind goes blank, it's like I forget about every book I've ever read 😂📚
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was actually the first ever book that I received a physical ARC copy of, so I was super excited! Read my review of The Vanitas & Other Tales of Art and Obsession by
@JakeKendallAuth
for
@The_WriteReads
!
#shortstories
From Barnardo's today, I bought... 11 books, 4 headbands, too many nail varnishes to count, and a make-up bag. I paid £5 for all of it. The joy of being a volunteer is coming home with so many bargains 🥰
This evening's reading 😊 I read this before, a few years ago, when my book club had Scandinavian crime as their theme. I loved it, so reading it a second time!
#BookTwitter
I recently reviewed the latest Lady Hardcastle mystery on
@NetGalley
- then I decided I wanted to read some more. Last weekend, by complete coincidence, my sister brought me this 😄 she thought it looked like my sort of thing, apparently.
@TEKinsey
#BookTwitter
As much as I love books, there are days when the idea of reading doesn't spark joy, at least not as much as it would most of the time. But I feel like
#BookTwitter
is a good antidote to that because I find that discussion of books in any form usually boosts my reading motivation.
600 followers! 😊 I swear last week, I had 500, and only a few weeks ago, I had less than 200, who barely interacted with me. Now I seem to constantly gain new followers who are interested in interacting, and I suspect that
#BookTwitter
contributes to this. Thank you very much 🥰
Me: "I'm donating 10 books to the shop. There's no way I'm coming back home with 10 more."
My sister: "We had a bunch of MC Beaton books donated if you want to look at them."
Me: "Oh, I'll have this one, this one, this one..."
I ended up with 10 😂😂😂
Tonight's
#BookTwitter
book categories question... Name a book you enjoy that also has a good film/TV adaptation. And as I'm watching it currently, I'll go with The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
So, I got two books from my book club's trolley on Friday, and I haven't started reading either of them yet. That's completely unacceptable, and I must do something about that 😂 so I'm going to start now, with the first of them. Which is this.
#BookTwitter
Here is a photo collage that I made, of all the books I've read since the last book club meeting 🥰 the next meeting is tomorrow, we'll have a new theme. I wonder what it will be!
#BookTwitter
I received a letter today from one of my lovely penpals, and she included a habit/self-care tracker and to-do list, which I think I might put to use. Because these things are important 😊
Because I'm still getting used to this tablet, here is a random photo of my cat Smudge 🐈 because, well you know, any excuse to take a photo of my cat 😂🥰
#CatsOnTwitter
Starting two books tonight, the first of which is a re-read. For my book club's theme of books with female lead characters, I'm going to revisit the first of the Sally Lockhart books by
@PhilipPullman
🥰
#BookTwitter
#BookTwitter
here's what I've been reading tonight - Susan Hill's 'The Woman In Black' is another one that I like to revisit. I may also have put away several cups of tea and a couple of mince pies whilst reading...
I have decided that this is going to be my first read of 2023, just because it's what I'm in the mood for after buying those bookmarks 😂 because, well, why not??
#BookTwitter
I keep saying over and over again, that I'm only going to buy books if I specifically intend to read them in the near future. But when I say that, I realise how many amazing books there still are to discover, and I suddenly want to read everything ❤️📚📚📚
For my
#BookTwitter
book categories game tonight... Name a book written for children that you still enjoy as an adult. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
A few days ago, I shared a photo in my book club's WhatsApp group of a book I was reading. Two other members said they hadn't liked that particular book, but I've been enjoying it so far. It makes me feel silly when I have a different opinion to everyone else 😂
Book club meeting in the morning, and here it is - a photo collage of all the books I've read since the last meeting. Including physical books and ARCs. 😊
#BookTwitter
Me: Has a big TBR pile at home, and a TBR pile of books that a friend lent to me.
Also me: Checks out 6 library books.
I swear book hunger is a thing, some days you just want to devour every book in sight 📚📚📚
