@angryasianman
This is my local H-Mart LMAO it’s located in Southern California in the SGV (Los Angeles County). I’m pretty surprised it happened here since majority of the population here is Asian and we’re serious about wearing masks. That guy prob went there LOOKING for confrontation 🙄🙄🙄
Immediately took down my TFIOS poster with Ansel Elgort and replaced it (with BTS haha). Fuck that guy. I was a fan but no hesitation when it comes to rapist trash. No excuses, even if you’re a huge fan. A huge FUCK YOU to every single one of you defending him. DISGUSTING.

SAY HIS NAME Gregory Johnson Jr. was the only black member of Sigma Chi in 2008, found dead in their basement, ruled a suicide by school and frat. A COVER UP HE WAS MURDERED.

I think people need to understand the historical context behind Asians being offended over Jack Harlow’s ABG line in 3D… the man is a white man rapping about Asian girls, while Asian women have been fetishized and infantilized by white men for years but ya’ll blinded by Jungkook
There was a mass shooting in my community tonight… at the Lunar Mew Year Festival in Monterey Park. I was there earlier tonight with my mom, this cannot be real. My own home. If we’d gone and left the festival later, that could have been us. I feel fucking sick.
DO NOT SHARE THE PICTURES OR NAMES OF THE SHOOTER. DO NOT GIVE THESE ASSHOLES FAME AND ATTENTION. DO NOT GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT. DO NOT SHARE THE PICTURES OR NAMES OF SHOOTERS. THAT GOES FOR YOU TOO NEWS MEDIA.

And all the Asian women have black hair blacker than the deepest well, luxurious grey eyes that look like they’ve lived for a thousand years, rice-white skin, delicate lips the color of blood, a willowy figure, tiny bound feet that they use to gracefully shuffle along....
Asian women face violence from white men because of that kind of fetishization (not saying JH is necessarily fetishizing Asian women/ABGs). But that’s why Asian people could be offended.
It’s also why many white men specifically only want Asian women as their “type”— they think Asian women are submissive and obedient, Asian women are stereotyped to be these docile lotus blossom caricatures that white men can dominate.
So a white men asking ABGs to be cute for him can rub people the wrong way because of the history of being fetishized by white men. There’s even a term for the type of white man who pursues Asian women because he fetishizes them called “yellow fever”.
My sis and I (Americans) want to get tickets to Yuzuru Hanyu’s Notte Stellata show next March in Japan but I have no idea how to get tickets as an international fan… where do I even start?? Someone plz help and give me pointers 😭😭😭😭😭
But the fetishization of Asian women is a huge reason why people could be offended that Jack Harlow, a white man, is talking about ABGs, especially on a track with an Asian man.
I’ve written more about the fetishization of Asian women here FYI:

This the state given by President of SJSU Mary Papazian (was not president at time of Gregory’s death) but STOP WITH THE HYPOCRISY.
I don’t think ABG is used as a derogatory term anymore and the meaning has since evolved to an entirely different meaning than the original which was Southeast Asian women who were gang affiliated because they lived in oppressive communities that forced them into that life.
I was one of the lucky LA Black Roses who participated in the Wonder Venn Diagram project (I held the El Salvador flag hehe).

Another thought to add on: JH saying ABG in this particular song is particularly icky because he specifically said it on a track with an Asian artist too.
I didn’t know much about
@BTS_twt
besides a few of their title tracks before this SNL performances, but I literally stayed up to watch it live just because I was so excited there was an Asian act on American TV. I wasn’t an Army then. The impact BTS has on us Asian Americans+
@EugeneLeeYang
Also all the people blabbing “how is this a cultural thing that’s child abuse” that’s how our parents and grandparents were disciplined as kids, they never heard of timeouts and being grounded. It is a cultural thing, although it doesn’t excuse excessive physical punishment
Too lazy to type out a new thread but here’s a little context on what an ABG is!! More info is that nowadays a lot of Asian girls use this “aesthetic” to rebel against the obedient lotus kind of stereotype
She wants to be an ABG so bad. It makes me laugh when these rich/middle class ABGs use AAVE but like. They’re rich Asian Americans who go to UCI and drive BMWs. LMFAO.
@infernalvanity
@hyunsuinseoul
Everyone says there’s no evidence he did it… what if there was evidence that wasn’t made public. This was a highly public case, often in legal proceedings there are parts not disclosed to the public. A bunch of apologists smh
ARREST ANSEL ELGORT. 17 is NOT old enough to know better, especially if the rapist is a famous person that they look up to. That’s a huge abuse of power. A huge disrespect to every single one of you defending him and victim-blaming and gaslighting.
I literally went to Kcon concert for STAYC and
@kconusa
only gave them 2 stages and no special stages wtf….. literally even non-fans know Stayc’s songs, everyone was cheering for them, why didn’t they give stayc more stages? I waited for ASAP, they did them so dirty WTFFFFF 😭😭
@CAMLaPistolaa
Human trafficking is not a problem here, and we abide by the law. I don’t know if you know this, but Asians are generally ignored because we are “model citizens”.

Reminds me of something I saw talking about how society is dominated by the male gaze, so when men see how so many women are attracted to BTS, they just can’t understand it because in society, things only have value if the male gaze approves of it.
A lot of prolifers argue “but what about that baby’s potential”? But what about the potential of the women who are already living? The people whose lives are disrupted by unplanned pregnancies, who are forced to give birth?
White people be like “Violence and rioting isn’t the answer” fucker we learned it from you
1957- White protesters screaming at the Little Rock 9 because they had the audacity to attend school. National Guard didn’t do anything to defend Little Rock 9 and blocked their entry
It kind of feels like he found any Asian aesthetic and threw it into a song with an Asian artist without thinking about the history behind it (I’m not saying that’s actually what happened). Which is kind of like the harmful stereotype that “all Asians are/look the same”
ABGs are an American/western thing since the OG lifestyle was a) inspired/appropriated from other minority groups like Hispanic and African American communities, and b) caused by oppressive conditions in the U.S against AsAms that forced the women into gang life.
@CAMLaPistolaa
I’d like you to know I live in the San Gabriel Valley, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, concentrations in America. The area I live in is 80-90% Asian. We are normal people just like you are, and almost all of us are here legally. We don’t get into that many car accidents
@originalspin
Asian people weren’t allowed here legally until 1943. Then they set teeny tiny limits on how many were allowed in until 1950s-1960s. Those limits are still in place for many today. Horrible to see an immigrant, a Vietnamese REFUGEE no less, subjecting other refugees to torture.
FYI I am not defending or attacking the song or JK+JH I’m simply explaining why people might be offended. I thought it’s important for people to know the context (I have a sociology degree). It ispossible to be a fan of things but view it with a critical lens! It’s encouraged!!
I’m pretty sure Inglewood is known for being a kind of more sketchy neighborhood soooo ya’ll might want to stay more towards the LA suburbs or smth if you’re worried about that.
Taking those points into consideration, there aren’t ABGs in South Korea, where Jungkook is from. So if JH wants to shout out South Korean girls then ABG is a little of a strange way to go about it.
Their company should have paid the fees for cancelling the contract… that’s just beyond cruel. Same for the other idols attending We Bridge who would want to have time to privately mourn and attend Moonbin’s funeral. They just lost one of their closest friends…
seungkwan not participating for svt's cb pre recording, sinb & umji being forced to leave sk making them unable to attend bin's funeral. oh man this is so heartbreaking
@SouthpauzArt
I’ve been hopping from fandom to fandom since I was at least 11. What I’ve come to learn over the last decade is that they are all EXACTLY THE SAME. The only difference is what you’re stanning. That’s why fanwars are so fucking funny/infuriating to me LMFAO.
This is why a lot of men just cannot understand the fact that many women might find “softer” men with what’s considered more “feminine” features, traits and interests attractive. Because the male gaze has convinced men that hyper-masculine men is what’s supposed to be attractive.
@kpophappenings_
BTS used their fans singing Young Forever at PTD LA D2 or Muster in For Youth 🥹🥹💜 (it’s not Wembley b/c the sound byte in For Youth has Hobi rapping, they didn’t have that at Wembley). I thought it was PTD but I’ve also from from fans it’s from a Muster performance.
Wait, For Youth can’t be Wembley… in the For Youth you can hear the ending of Hobi’s Young Forever verse… Wembley Army Time event skipped over that part entirely and went straight to the chorus
@blabberingmesss
Yes yes! I love this thread
Same with live performance staff on technical side, like audio lighting stagehands etc
I worked these things in high school and sometimes things just happen, audio and microphones will just stop or go in and out, you can’t always do anything about it
@kurisuchii
I made a sign for TXT LA (Taehyun as my cat). I was leaving the stadium on D1 and my sis saw another fan with the same sign as me but with Beomgyu!! She ran over to talk to this fan and show her my sign. We talked and now we’re MOA friends hehe 🥺🥺🥺💙
TXT Act: Sweet Mirage freebies are being made! Get excited, LA dates!! Will be handing these out with member/OT5 photocards at both dates of BMO Stadium ^_^

@btsbeingbtsyt
The racism reeks!!!! That’s absolutely disgusting. Equating all Asian ethnicities together = classing anti-Asian racism and xenophobia. But also equating them to a virus that has been linked to Chinese people as scapegoats! There’s absolutely no reason to say these things.
But, I can still see how JH using ABG in a song with an Asian artist can be offensive. As with any social issue, it’s very nuanced and there’s not always a clear right or wrong. Even Asian ppl will have different opinions on this of course. Anyways, hope ppl learned something!
@blabberingmesss
People always think everyone has it out for BTS when audio or something goes wrong but sometimes things happen Especially in the huge stadiums BTS perform at. I worked in tiny school venues, outdoor venues, and a 1300 seat venue, things are bound to go wrong even w professionals

Just graduated with bachelor’s in sociology. Took a family violence class, one of the most important and informative classes I have ever taken. Ngl I haven’t been following the trial, but the way this entire trial and issue has become entertainment is just disgusting.
Also people getting mad he had the “audacity” to “put themselves on the same level” as BTS, he clearly wasn’t doing that?? The interviewer was the one who said it, do you expect them to talk shit about themselves, Vernon prob didn’t even think about what the interviewer said…
Vernon didn’t mean anything in a negative way. Of course no group is gonna be the same as they were 7 years ago. Yes bts were successful in 2015 & he’s just saying how they’ve grown a lot since then! it wasn’t a shady comment. Do you expect a group to always be the same everyyear
