Sexual harassment stories are so shocking that some people will often blame the victims, because it seems easier to find reasons like “if I don’t do ‘x’ then ‘y’ cannot happen”. I was even taught how to “prevent” these situations. Well, what if we educated the men instead? 8/8

My first coach (40+ at the time) thought I (12-14 at the time) was interested in him, so it’s alright to sexually assault and harass me. And after I finally cut contact with him, besides spreading fake gossip he stalked and harassed me online for years. 7/8

When I was 9 I was told that I should compete in a beauty contest, not in chess, cause I’d be *more successful* that way. He meant it as a compliment I suppose, but well, it wasn't. Is this really a good message to young girls? That they can only be successful with looks? 5/8

I complained about struggling to raise my rating, and my ~1400 rated friend says; "I'd give anything to be stuck at 2300, stop crying". Why do people think higher rated ppl can't be upset about being stuck at a certain level? I also want to improve😭

My titled friend drew a famous player online (not huge difference in rating in CC blitz), and their opponent accused them of cheating immediately. I get that this is an issue in chess, but is this what we're going to do from now on? Everyone is suspicious if we don't beat them?:(

Sadly, quite a few people still agree with what GM Smirin said, even in 2022. This was told to my face countless times in the past 50+ years. and . I even got severely punished because I chose to prove that women are just as capable.

When making a plan in chess, remember: hope is not a strategy. Don't go like: "but they will blunder it for sure!", because if they don't, you will lose time. If you respect your opponent's skills, you will also be more successful. #chesspunks

The World Amateur Chess Championship ended, and I finished with 5/9, +2 Elo. I am satisfied with most of my games, but I believe there were more points in it than 5. It was such a great opportunity to learn more about this amazing game🤗 #chess #Tournament

Had an OTB game recently, where I played with a 13 y/o kid (1350Fide), who offered me (2100Fide) draw in an equal position after the opening. I understand his motives, but at that age I'd have been scolded badly if I ever offered draw in a non-endgame pos🤔

I used to hate studying openings! But I think you can actually make it more interesting by: - doing opening puzzles, - studying master games in that opening, - studying the related middle game plans +playing these positions out against someone I get less overwhelmed this way😊

Since I started to put more work into chess again, my online rating increased with +200 and I have better Titled Tuesdays with better games! I even reached my top online rating today, 2364😁 Now the only thing that has to be learnt is how to not get tilted so fast. Any ideas?🤔

A pic from 9y ago at my last HUN Youth Chip. As a child going to a chess tourney meant meeting friends, celebrating/crying together, staying up late, having fun. When it was over, you knew you were going to meet in another tourney in a few weeks. As an adult it's so different😭🥲

Asking, because I played someone today, who played Bh6 after my g6 move and I captured it, and they asked for a takeback. Then they played something totally different, not with the Bishop at all. Probably they hoped for Bg7 from me. It was blitz, but I think it's this category.
