Similar to US players Alex Valle and John Choi being ahead of the curve in SFA2, Japan was also using some advanced strategies early in the game's life. Street Fighter Zero 2 released on 2/27/96. This tournament clip from 7/23/96 shows Vega landing unblockable slide post CC.

Japan vs. USA 2000 Kurahashi vs. John Choi I've always felt they played Street Fighter in a similar style. Clean, precise, and efficient. Even after watching this match hundreds of times, Kurahashi's Sonic Boom keeping up with John's Tiger Shot leaves me puzzled to this day.

Yomiaidow's Ryu played a calculated and confident game, until Grygra's Fei Long took full advantage of the back jump > Hadou. Sometimes that's all it takes. This game can be unforgiving.

Zero 3 25th Anniversary Cup September 17, 2023 Bas (V-Gouki) vs. 443 (V-Sakura) Even after 25 years, players show there's still room for creativity. V gauge is truly one of the best mechanics in fighting games. Also, there's no vibe more electrifying than the OG arcade culture.

Kemonomichi 3 March 1, 2020 Kotaka Shoten (Guile) vs. Kurahashi (Ryu) I almost thought there was a production error because these two rounds were near identical, even down to Yoshio's commentary. Watch both clips layered on top of each other, and separately to spot differences.

This Kakeurgo run from DaRKSLaiN 🇪🇸 @sete_kitt further shows the player expression one can have in Super Street Fighter II X. His unorthodox Inazuma Kick, Reversal Attack bug, and Top Spin helped Ken protect the universe from Balrog. The white gi is the signature of DaRKSLaiN.

This set up was created by a SF2CE player from Pakistan almost five years ago. You have to crouch in the corner to get the side switch. The Short Kick isn't necessary, but can be used for frame kill. Then you input Tatsumaki Kick from 2P side. Not practical in a real match.

New tournament format where the loser of Janken picks Balrog. Goal is to knock off the claw and win. After tapping Balrog 8 times, there is a 13% or 1/7.69 (1/8) chance that the claw will get knocked off on next contact. Here's the first round where Mattsun had some bad RNG.

Street Fighter Zero 3 has some nuanced tech. Ken escapes the CC infinite by going into tech flip > activate > attack. Cody responds with a Bad Spray (reversal only), but because he just got hit out of custom, it maintains the V properties, allowing him to get the pick up and CC.

Yito2K taught me something new with Dictator. I didn't know you could juggle Jump Strong with this pattern to get a single hit into Nightmare. He was ready with the punish as well. It took all three punches to build the meter.

Street Fighter II: Champion Edition #LORE 🇵🇰 I visited this arcade in Rawalpindi in 2012, and they are, to date, the strongest Street Fighter players I've ever played. Before returning to the US, the community blessed me a SF2CE board and told me to practice until we meet again.
