Enjoy 6 hours of classic Super Street Fighter II.
There's a reason why John Choi's fireball game is the best in the world. Who else has a fireball that gets a second chance?
Seriously, there is nobody else doing this.
Kakerugo Top 8 Finals

Mattsun said after 30 years, we are at a new age of Super Street Fighter II X. With so many new players on the rise and climbing the ranks, we can say with confidence that the future of this historic game is secure.
Game Spot Versus [Tozaisen]
August 23, 2011
Mu vs. Inomata (Otouto)
Just a weekly East vs. West battle from 13 years ago where Inomata, the younger of two T. Hawk brothers, made a zero dot comeback against Mu's Dhalsim. It's an exciting round, but there's more to the story.
CvS2 Sakura with the big combos and an ending you don't see everyday.
I'm sure
@JWonggg
will be coming through with hella content from this trip as well.
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike has been out for 25 years and is still producing some amazing moments around the world, but I bet nobody had this on their 3rd Strike bingo cards.

After a 9-9 score, the players raced to get a 2-game lead to win the set.

Similar to US players Alex Valle and John Choi being ahead of the curve in SFA2, Japan was also using some advanced strategies early in the game's life.

Japan vs. USA 2000
Kurahashi vs. John Choi
I've always felt they played Street Fighter in a similar style. Clean, precise, and efficient.
Even after watching this match hundreds of times, Kurahashi's Sonic Boom keeping up with John's Tiger Shot leaves me puzzled to this day.
In the 2010s, Hiroyan ใฒใใใ was the patented gold T. Hawk known for his option select execution and fierce Typhoons.
GameSpot Versus also had VIPER, Shin, and Inomata representing their own styles.
Opponents: Nikaiten, XSPR, Gucchi, Choshu, Shu, Jojo, Kurahashi, Aoki Cyclone
Mattsun practically unlocked Violent Ken at EVO Japan. It's remarkable how creative one can be in this game.
Thank you to all the organizers for making this event happen. And of course, thanks Makiri for running commentary with me and closing the book on this one.
Yomiaidow's Ryu played a calculated and confident game, until Grygra's Fei Long took full advantage of the back jump > Hadou. Sometimes that's all it takes. This game can be unforgiving.

Bas (V-Gouki) vs. 443 (V-Sakura)
Even after 25 years, players show there's still room for creativity. V gauge is truly one of the best mechanics in fighting games.
Also, there's no vibe more electrifying than the OG arcade culture.

Kotaka Shoten (Guile) vs. Kurahashi (Ryu)
I almost thought there was a production error because these two rounds were near identical, even down to Yoshio's commentary. Watch both clips layered on top of each other, and separately to spot differences.

When the US players were watching live, Seth Killian said, "It's not a question of if Daigo's going to win, but how he's going to win."
Only few have ascended to Daigo's level of play.
This Kakeurgo run from DaRKSLaiN ๐ช๐ธ
@sete_kitt
further shows the player expression one can have in Super Street Fighter II X.
His unorthodox Inazuma Kick, Reversal Attack bug, and Top Spin helped Ken protect the universe from Balrog.
The white gi is the signature of DaRKSLaiN.
One of the most rewarding achievements in fighting games is when you and your opponent get too familiar with each others' tendencies. This results in a more abstract gameplay well beyond the surface level meta, with more reads, anticipatory punishes, and unconventional exchanges.

Yume vs. Nyo
One of Nyo's sparring partners is Kondo Balrog so he came prepared with some anti-Hyoubal tech. If you tag it with Strong Punch at a precise angle, it will lead to a deep cross up combo and the round.

33 years ago, just weeks after the release of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior,
@YuusaRiki9801
and his friends created the "Nagoyan Video."
A legendary piece of fighting game history, the techniques here still hold up as the highest level Street Fighter gameplay of all time.
This set up was created by a SF2CE player from Pakistan almost five years ago.
You have to crouch in the corner to get the side switch. The Short Kick isn't necessary, but can be used for frame kill. Then you input Tatsumaki Kick from 2P side.
Not practical in a real match.
YOUDEAL STREET FIGHTER ALL BATTLE (2017)
Kotaka (Guile) vs. Aniken (Ken)
Such a difficult match and an unlikely comeback as Kotaka had a 2-0 lead in the set.
Aniken works his "mix-up of god" magic with the golden Shoryureppa to tag the back jump, and a few good reads.
ใใใ
In my opinion, this is by far the most satisfying whiff punish you can land in the entire Street Fighter II series. To this day, I've only ever witnessed players in Pakistan do this.

New tournament format where the loser of Janken picks Balrog. Goal is to knock off the claw and win.
After tapping Balrog 8 times, there is a 13% or 1/7.69 (1/8) chance that the claw will get knocked off on next contact.
Here's the first round where Mattsun had some bad RNG.

RX (Ryu) vs. K.O (Dudley)
Having spent countless late night and early morning hours watching TheShend videos, this Ryu vs. Dudley event is one for the ages.
A truly unforgettable match in the history of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.
Street Fighter Zero 3 has some nuanced tech.
Ken escapes the CC infinite by going into tech flip > activate > attack. Cody responds with a Bad Spray (reversal only), but because he just got hit out of custom, it maintains the V properties, allowing him to get the pick up and CC.
Happy 30th Birthday to Super Street Fighter II X.
I earned a degree, got a job, got married, had a kid, and during all that time growing up, this game remained constant.
It's not a hobby. It's a part of my life. I'm thankful for all the friends I made around the world.

Yito2K taught me something new with Dictator. I didn't know you could juggle Jump Strong with this pattern to get a single hit into Nightmare.

I visited this arcade in Rawalpindi in 2012, and they are, to date, the strongest Street Fighter players I've ever played. Before returning to the US, the community blessed me a SF2CE board and told me to practice until we meet again.
