As someone with a background in Wall Street and with friends still there, you are spot on re why the industry LOVES this type of student.
Smart, pedigree-obsessed conformists, with a 16 yr track record of doing “whatever it takes” to please their betters.
Mass psychosis in urban Blue America:
Fully vaccinated people standing outside, masked, waiting hours for a test to tell them if they’re infected with a virus that isn’t causing any symptoms.
It’s gonna take *years* to undo the mental health damage in these cities.
TWO plus hour wait for COVID tests here at this testing site in Harvard Square. The line is wrapped around the block with hundreds of people waiting to get tested before the holidays. Latest on

Amanda...have you reached out to any high school kids who haven’t seen a classroom in 9 months, are socially isolated, falling behind and are suffering from mental health issues as a result? I’ve not seen many (if any) CNN segments on that...
Traveling into Houston airport today, never seen so much mask non-compliance (in terminal.) Below noses, some totally off, etc. Not just passengers. Security, gate agents as well. I haven’t worn mine at all and no one has said a word or even given a second glance. No one cares.

Kid on the right will marry a sorority queen, have three Chads/Chadettes, a big house, season tix to SEC football, a boat and he’s all set.
This must be read in full to be believed. Amherst College is requiring all students be vaxxed, *double masked* on campus, no dining or social life, and 10 day quarantines for + tests (w/ no remote classes for quarantined students.) $70K per year…for jail.
Boulder, CO has 99% of >65 vaxed, and 82% of >12 vaxed. They just reimposed an indoor mask mandate regardless of vax status, and stated that mask mandates will be a permanent tool for when case rates meet the CDC definition of substantial or high transmission in the future. Nice!
Today was the first day of mask-optional schools in Denver:
Daughter says none of her teachers were wearing them, and 85-90% of classmates weren’t, either.
An encouraging start!
Covid mania at Cornell University, as they cancel all student gatherings due to a rise in cases.
“Being vaccinated, even with a booster shot, is not a license to let down our guards.”
Then what is? What more can students possibly do?
New CDC guidance for summer camps just dropped.
They “recommend” that every child eligible for a booster shot get one, and if they don’t, they should be quarantined AND masked for 5 days in the event of any Covid exposure.
Whether they’ve already had Covid or not.
Unreal.
It’s awful how some restaurants force employees to wear masks. 2 weeks ago, we sent an email to a certain restaurant *politely* explaining that 1) it’s degrading; and 2) it makes us feel uncomfortable. Went back tonight. Masks gone. Could be coincidence, but feedback does matter.

It’s going to be really hard to ever trust the CDC and the scientific community again.
My question is, how long has this type of thing been going on without the general public knowing about it?
What else have we been misled about over the years?
@RobertMSterling
Don’t forget, Biden lied about the man who accidentally killed his first wife in a traffic accident….insisted (publicly!) for decades that the guy was drunk, which was completely untrue.

We traveled to Florida in late 2020 and everything was wide open and normal.
It was eye-opening, like going from East Berlin to West Berlin for the first time.
That’s when I lost all trust (permanently) in our public health establishment.
Sad that an 8-minute Bill Maher monologue gives you a more objective and factual overview of Middle Eastern history than you’d get from 8 years of high school and college…

Masks inside and outside, and silent lunches…in 2023.
The cruelty is intentional, it’s unarguable at this point.
Sent kid to sleep away camp.
Camp requires everyone to be fully vaccinated.
All campers required to rapid test before getting on the bus to camp, wear masks on the bus, and were rapid tested again the day after arrival.
Now 1 week in and 10 campers have tested + for Covid. 🤓
@AlecMacGillis
The pandemic was part of this, as is social media, but I think there’s a bigger issue: grownups need to stop telling kids how awful the world is & how bad things are going to be for them.
It’s not wise (or fair) to push adult anxieties and frustrations on children.
Normal normal will be when you pick up your maskless, smiling kids from school, take them to Chik Fil A, and the dining room is open and full and employees aren’t wearing masks, and then take them to an NHL game without having to show proof of vaccination. Until then…not normal.
Just received my T-cell blood test results.
Despite never masking (except on planes), living my life 100% normally the past 2.5 yrs, and "sharing air" with wife & kids when they had Covid, I have never been infected.
I tried my best, but failed.
I'm rage crying right now.
Harvard refusing to concede that its President is a serial plagiarist is no different than the CDC refusing to acknowledge that masks don’t work - two “elite” institutions destroying their credibility rather than admitting they’re wrong.
Jake Tapper's lead story tonight: "Is Harvard university really holding its president, Dr. Claudine Gay, to the same standards when it comes to plagiarism that it would for students committing the same offense?"
“Prohibit interstate travel.”
So that would have to involve police / national guard checkpoints on every road?
Enforced at gunpoint?
But no, none of these public’s health people wanted anything close to a China-style lockdown.
Nothing to see here.
So let’s define the kitchen sink:
1. start with universal mask wearing. We didn’t do this in Mar-April and let’s chalk it up to faulty instructions. But we know better now.
2. Keep the bars & restaurants & churches & transit closed. All hot spots.
3. Prohibit interstate travel10/
My wife is an exec at a Fortune 200 company with a vaccine mandate.
They’re now ending it due to the end of the Emergency.
Goes to show how much of all this was just HR-driven, brain dead box-checking.
Wonderful news that Biden is finally giving up on the fake COVID national emergency.
Here is a list of the 197 House Democrats who voted against ending the COVID national emergency on February 1, 2023.
JUST IN: Boulder County Public Health unanimously voted to rescind mask mandates for public indoor areas and schools during a meeting Monday. Both mandates will end at 5 p.m. Feb. 18.

Masks were suddenly recommended in April/May 2020 in order to give scared Americans a sense of agency and security, and keep the wheels from falling off the economy (and society.)
It was a political/economic decision that morphed into a quasi-religious belief, and here we are.
The CDC commissioned scientists to see if N95s work better than surgical masks for healthcare workers.
They reviewed the high-quality evidence and came back with a surprising answer: no.
Ignoring the evidence & because they did not like the answer, the CDC told the scientists
BREAKING: The School District of Philadelphia will require masks be worn at least for the first 10 days of the upcoming 2022-23 school year, school officials announced Friday. After those 10 days, masking will become optional.

“There are no randomized studies of community wide mask mandates.”
Exactly.
The fact that the CDC, with 2 yrs and billions of $$, didn’t do one is very telling.
What were they afraid they might find if they did?
There are no randomized studies of community-wide mask mandates. They don't exist. Which Bhattacharya would know if he was actually interested in figuring out whether masking works.
This new CDC mask guidance is gonna short circuit the brains of vaccinated people who want to virtue signal by continuing to wear masks. Because if they do, the people they’re trying to impress will just assume they’re not vaccinated. And they can’t have that!
@kerpen
I think many of us parents are (secretly?) looking to get our kids off the “HS to elite college” grind and just send them to a nice state or party school.
The last month of campus insanity has given us a great justification for doing it.
“MIT has acknowledged that the reason it did not follow through with threats to suspend students…was its concern that they could face deportation because they were not U.S. citizens.”
MIT is protecting students who violated the terms of their visas.
@TheChiefNerd
I don’t even think the Bud Light boycott is really about the “trans issue.”
It’s more about, people are sick and tired of having politics (of any kind) injected into *everything*.
This is what it takes. Parents elect a new school board, which gets rid of the mask mandate for kids in one of metro Denver’s largest school districts.
This is actually the scariest of all the Twitter Files.
The scale of the narrative control effort, and the cooperation between business, academia and government is mind-boggling.
And NONE of it would be known if
@elonmusk
hadn’t bought Twitter.
"There was no study that did masks on kids, you couldn't do the study," Anthony Fauci says in response to a question about masking children under five.
This comment to
@DrJBhattacharya
by a NYT Covid journalist is revealing.
What are the odds she posed the same tough, skeptical questions to public health officials who were pushing shutdowns, school closures, etc.?
ZERO.
It's the blatant double standards that are so maddening.
Day 1019 of zero Covid precautions taken.
No masking, distancing, WFH, or isolating my wife and kids when they got it.
Had a bad head & chest cold the past few days, but no luck.
I’ve given up hope of ever getting this virus.
Just rage crying now.
The most bone-chilling statement by Jha is that the CDC is developing a “scientific framework” for mask mandates on the nation’s transportation networks.
Think about the long term implications of that statement, given what we know about how the CDC manipulates “the science.”
@neontaster
@JDHaltigan
I keep saying this. I'm immunocompromised and can tell you, most of "us" aren't at any greater risk from Covid than the average person.
For the small subset that are, they've ALWAYS been at elevated risk from other infections.
This isn't new, it's just moral grandstanding.
“Masks continue to be one tool that we can use to protect our children.”
That’s the new CDC Director, in late 2023.
They will NEVER give up on this, ever.
In light of this new systematic review that found no evidence for child mask mandates
Guess who wouldn't answer if she would require 2 year olds to mask again during last week's hearing on restoring CDC trust?

Re Fauci:
When you think about it, it’s amazing & scary that a middling career bureaucrat MD, with zero experience beyond his narrow field of expertise, was able to maneuver himself into a place where he impacted the daily lives of *every single American* for 2.5 yrs.
I’m vaccinated but have an 18-yr old going to college who had C19 three months ago. And now CDC recommends he still get two doses of an mRNA vaccine? This seems borderline unethical and I don’t use that word lightly. Cc:

Much of our insane pandemic response really was driven by a small but highly vocal and aggressive group of germaphobes, wasn’t it?
Fauci on mask mandates:
“From a broad public health standpoint, at the population level, masks work at the margins - maybe 10%.”
So can we finally put this nonsense to bed?
So here’s the head of the CDC, stating clearly that vaccines by themselves aren’t enough. And that masks should be a permanent feature of our lives going forward. As someone who strongly supports vaccination, I can’t tell you how angry this makes me. She’s a freak.
Masks can help reduce your chance of

infection by more than 80%.
Masks also help protect from other illnesses like common cold and flu. Wearing a mask- along w/ getting vaccinated- are important steps to stay healthy.

I am a super big public transit nerd. I hate private cars in cities. I love bikes. And yes, I love buses. Transit justice ✊️ and climate love 🌍, in one humble hunk of rolling metal.
I can't stand Trump, but there's no excuse for a state Attorney General to act this way, and it only adds to the (correct) argument that the whole prosecution was a political sham.

In all seriousness, there’s no big project to “dehumanize” trans women.
Anyone over 40 knows they’ve been around forever, and most people have never cared…until they got children involved, insisted on playing women’s sports, etc.
Serious question, in the history of the world has there *ever* before been a vaccine that people took SEVEN times over two years? 🤪
This is a genuine mental illness.

It’s so revealing that marches in favor of Western/liberal values don’t have any masks, but marches in favor of Hamas/illiberal values are absolutely filled with them.
The good news:
1. CDC continues to torch its credibility - it’s now a joke institution.
2. Almost no one will follow this guidance ever again, further eroding its influence.
3. Americans’ general mistrust of our incompetent and plainly corrupt institutions will increase.
When asked if the CDC will revise its guidance to mandate masks in schools in light of the Cochrane review showing masks do not curb COVID, CDC Director Walensky tells Congress its advice on child masking will never change. “Our masking guidance doesn’t really change with time.”

My guess is zero.
But still, show him some grace. 🙄

I don’t think many people realize how dark things are going to get in the U.K. and parts of Western Europe over the next 25+ years.
Dr. Bob is drawing the wrong conclusion.
There is NOT collective denial around the risk of maskless indoor activities.
There is, in fact, ACCEPTANCE by most people that we're all getting exposed (multiple times!) no matter what we do.
He & his followers are the ones in denial.
There's lots of collective denial around about the risk of maskless indoor activities with lots of people. It's pretty darn high right now. Best avoided if you'd like to miss out on BA.2 and its relatives.

How exactly did the "trans community" gain so much headspace in this country over the past 3 yrs?
It's actually incredible when you think about it.
I care because:
1. Every masked person contributes to the normalization of mask wearing, which means college students, service workers, etc. are STILL being forced to wear them; and
2. masked adults send a message to impressionable kids that people are dangerous.
That’s why.
Aside from having to be vaccinated, all students will *also* be required to wear masks and do social distancing. I’m trying to understand the logic behind this. What am I missing?

Randi Weingarten gets told off to her face:

Nursing home residents are the “forgotten people” now that the pandemic is behind us.
Three years on, and they’re STILL being forced to live the end of their lives in a sea of masked faces.
It’s cruel and inhuman.

No one else in the house got infected.
The dancing nurse thing has always confused me.
These videos weren’t spontaneous; it takes time and effort to coordinate something like this.
But what was the objective?
One of the lingering mysteries of the response to COVID is why we were presented with this onslaught of high-production-value TikTok videos of nurses performing well-choreographed dance routines in hospitals across the world in 2020. Theories welcome.
My “COVID lockdown thing” was going maskless through airports (except security) and daring anyone to say something, which only happened once in 2 years.

I took my wife to ObGyn last year.
We had masks on in the exam room (practice required it.)
Doc came in; older guy, a bit crusty.
No mask.
He immediately said to my wife, “Please take that off [the mask] so we can talk to each other.”
That’s a good doctor.

Randi Weingarten is a union boss.
Caring about kids is literally not in her job description.
If she could get every teacher in America full pay for never showing up in a classroom, she’d do it, gladly.
Keep in mind:
The unhinged reactions of certain public health “Experts” to this proposal aren’t because they’re afraid of what will happen to kids if the masks come off.
They’re afraid that NOTHING will happen to kids, and their own reputations will be ruined as a result.
