We are sad to hear of the passing of former St. Joseph’s pupil, Paul O’Grady. Staff and pupils are inspired by his compassion, love and wonderful sense of humour. We will be reflecting on those characteristics he modelled, and keeping his family in our thoughts and prayers.
Representing
@TranmereRovers
, the girls topped their group which included Chester, Gateshead and Tamworth. We then eventually beat Hartlepool 1-0 in the final to set up a

It certainly was a morning to remember for our prefects at Hamilton Square! Thank you to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for taking the time to chat today.

Year 6 were very excited to receive a visit from

We have had a lovely first day back with Year 6! One of our tasks this week is to make a Happy Box, filled with happy things to cheer us up when we are feeling low. Have a go at making your Happy Box at home and Tweet us a photo!
Our wonderful school choir was in fine voice this afternoon at a very busy Oxton Christmas lights switch-on. Well done to all the children plus Mrs. Lester and Miss Barrie for all their hard work.

St. Joseph’s Girls’ football team enjoyed a splendid afternoon at Prenton Park on Saturday, where they paraded

Year 6 have arrived safely at the Conwy Centre in Anglesey. The sun is shining and we are enjoying lunch before an exciting afternoon in the woods!

We know this has been a difficult year for many families. A group of staff decided to create a garden of reflection and peace for our school community over the Easter holidays.
Well done to our wonderful choir who performed at the

Christmas lights switch-on this evening. Mrs Lester’s singers ended the night with a selection of modern and traditional Christmas songs.
We all attended a special garden party this morning for all the members of staff who are leaving today, including the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Ward who is retiring after over 20 years at St. Joseph’s.
This week, our choir had the honour of singing at Birkenhead Town Hall as Paul O'Grady was honoured and his family presented with the Freedom of the Borough.
Our amazing choir in fine form at the Secret Gardens of Oxton

On This Day, 10 years ago: St. Joseph’s beat Higher Bebington 9-2 to win our first of four Wirral Schools Houlihan Cups. The team featured no fewer than three players who would make future professional appearances. We wonder what everyone in the squad are up to now...
November is the month of
#Remembrance
. The children have created these poppies in class and have been remembering and praying for those people dear to us.
St Joseph’s School choir has successfully auditioned for the ‘Spotlight on Youth’ show at the Floral Pavilion on Sunday 31st March. This is the third year we have been successful and we are all very excited!
It has taken us a whole weekend to recover, but we can now celebrate the magnificent achievement of our Girls’ Football team who were crowned
@TheNLTrust
Northern Champions on Friday.
EYFS and KS1 treated the rest of the school to a performance of Lights, Camel, Action this morning. We told the Nativity story in a lively, modern way which we cannot wait to show to our families this week!

As our Year 6s are unable to attend Induction Day at their new schools this year, we organised a Zoom meeting with the Learning Coach and Head of Year 7 from
@SJPHeadTeacher
. Many thanks to Mr Ashton and Mrs Grace for their advice and expertise.
A wonderful day of football which ultimately turned into heartbreak as St. Joseph's represented
@TranmereRovers
in Stockport. Having topped the group with a 100% record (P6 W6) and cruised to a semi-final win, we eventually lost the final 4-3, denying us a dream date at Wembley.
Thank you to all parents for your generosity in sending in food for Wirral Food Bank. Three Minnie Vinnie members accompanied teachers to deliver the food. We were delighted with your response as part of our Reverse Advent Calendar.
Year 6 were treated to a very special event today - the opening of the Birch Centre. This is a mental health facility for young people at St. Catherine’s Hospital. Our very own Maddison was the star guest, as she was chosen to officially open the centre.

Year 6 ended the day with a ‘socially distanced’ assembly, followed by a tremendous reception from parents and staff. We wish all of our leavers the very best of luck as they move on to their secondary schools.
Super proud of our choir who performed at the Wirral music festival on Saturday. A technical glitch meant they had to sing a Capella but they still sounded amazing and were awarded second place! Huge well done - you are all stars!
The children in Year 4 took part in their enrolment liturgy today led by Father Niall, celebrating the start of their journey towards First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We ask you to keep Year 4 in your prayers.
It has been another momentous week for our school choir who sang at the

Advent service at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Many thanks to Mrs Lester and Miss Barrie for their work with the choir throughout 2023.

Our Mini Vinnies joined with other Wirral Catholic schools at St Michael's Church for a beautiful Advent service. We thought about the Advent Wreath and listened to the readings to help us prepare for Christmas. HOPE. PEACE. JOY. LOVE.
We have enjoyed a lovely day, thinking about our well-being for
#MentalHealthDay
. Dressed in yellow or green, we have practised our breathing, worked out in the fresh air and performed some ‘mindfulness’ activities. We ended the day with a presentation in Assembly from Year 6.
