📌 Pintro 📌
Hi! I’m Eric. I’m a game writer who has been lucky enough to work on stuff like:
-The Walking Dead S2
-Tales from the Borderlands
-Minecraft: Story Mode S1&2
-Batman: The Telltale Series
-Fortnite
-Frozen Adventures
-Marble Knights
-MultiVersus
We had Tom and Zendaya do some VO for a Fortnite x Spider-Man promo. Zendaya did hers, and then he was the next day. He wanted to know if he did his faster than her (he had) and then gleefully texted her to gloat right as the session ended. It was adorable.
Can you hear the bass boom? We’re ready for

is coming to Party Royale for the world premiere of their “Dynamite” MV (Choreography ver.)
See you at the party September 25 at 8 PM ET 💜
Anyway I liked him a lot and was super impressed by his balance of professionalism and willingness to have fun in the booth. Good guy. This profile was a nice read.
@catacalypto
I love where he’s like “you can’t just grab names from the Bible just because you think they sound cool”
About the anime deeply obsessed with humanity’s relationship w/ the divine/religion/etc.
My wife Molly is the Narrative Lead on the AW2 DLCs, and I am so blown away by what her and the team has created. Can’t wait to take a trip to Night Springs this weekend.
Fiction is written and comes true. Fiction collapses and remains mere words on a page. These are those stories in… Night Springs.
Night Springs, the first Alan Wake 2 expansion, is available now. Exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. Find out more at

VCRs kicked off the cycle of allowing parents to show their kids “what they grew up watching” for the first time, which then became what they showed THEIR kids “what they grew up watching” on and on and on 💀
When I was 17 I was the key witness to a cop firing at a motorcyclist next to my car at a stoplight. The cop was clearly pissed and fired irresponsibly. I gave my statement, and later had internal affairs show up to "discuss" my "misremembered" details and "let" me "revise" them.
I don’t talk about this much, because it’s hard and still tinged with shame and embarrassment, but I’m trying to be the kind of stuttering role model I wished I’d had when I was young. I stutter, and I turned out okay. If you stutter, I know you’ll be fine too. I believe in you.
Imagine your brain’s speech center as a revolving door with thoughts starting inside and stepping outside in an orderly fashion.
Now imagine it doesn’t spin consistently. Or it periodically stops. Or maybe one thought gets stuck and goes around and around.
That’s stuttering.
Did you know? If you use Alan Wake 2’s photo mode you can zoom in on every newspaper, every book being read by NPCs… and any exposed pages are actually custom-written.
I have confession for my Telltale colleagues:
If I ever told you something was a ”placeholder name”
That was what I actually wanted to name that character/place/thing and I was just waiting til you couldn’t think of it as being named anything else.
👍
To all the going to GDC for the first time next week, especially students: remember that networking is not about collecting interactions with “notable” game devs like filling a Pokédex. It’s making friends with and getting to know your peers in the industry.
In college it got better, then worse, then better again. I learned coping strategies. These days you almost never hear me stutter except when I’m overly stressed or tired, but I still don’t take my fluent-speaking days for granted.
I work in a job now where I’m expected to pitch and speak to groups pretty frequently. It’s terrifying every time but I’ve learned not to let that fear consume me. That the stuff I have to say is worth it even if it gets a little mangled sometimes.
I started stuttering when I was 12 and it made my school years miserable. I was teased every day for years and learned it was better to say nothing at all than be made fun of every time I opened my mouth.
So I’ve actually got some personal news: This is my first week as a full-time writer at Epic Games! Everyone has been wonderful so far and I am so excited to be joining the team.
So to clarify my situation for
#TelltaleJobs
: I left the company a week before the layoff, but I AM actively looking for work in the Los Angeles area. 5+ years experience writing for games at TTG, lots of experience with VO actors. I specialize in comedy, characters, and heart.
I’ve been having fun using this as a daily “audio diary” on my walk home from work, but realized that I have accidentally been creating an audio log that you might find in a game about the making of games.
This excerpt from Russel T. Davies regarding over-reliance on story structure and formal writing terminology speaks to my soul

I love how no matter how many times we’ve officially announced Control 2, it’s still treated as 👀 big shocking news 👀 every time someone mentions it here on Twitter.
Seeing Rhys and Vaughn in Borderlands 3 is stirring up a lot of complex emotions for me. I’m so happy to see them alive, but also sad and bittersweet that I don’t get to help write them anymore. I loved writing those hopeless boys.
Starting a new job next week, so we went on a “Pretty Woman”-style rampage at the mall yesterday overhauling my wardrobe. I don’t care for being in front of a camera, but I’m pretty proud of some of these ‘fits.

God - Great writing, and Bill Farmer still absolutely killing it after all these years with the VO performance. His ability to bring pathos to Goofy is some next-level stuff.
🕹✨Job news!✨🕹
Today is my first day as Sr. Narrative Designer at
@SquanchGames
! Thrilled to bits to be working with
@JustinRoiland
,
@tanyuhhhhhhh
, and the awesome team they’ve assembled. Exciting times, ahoy!
Looks like the cat is officially out of the bag! It has been so exciting to be a part of the WolfEye team, and I can’t wait for folks to see what we’re working on at the Game Awards next month.
This is good advice for game development in general - Having interests, knowledge, and passions outside of games is absolutely essential to being well-rounded and creative.
Nintendo fans: if you ever want to work at Nintendo you should try and develop your interests and passion outside of just playing Nintendo games. The more I read about Nintendo's creators, the more I've come to realize this.
If you’re looking for a sweet K-Drama full of heart, twists, and a wonderful found family of characters I highly recommend Netflix’s “Crash Landing On You.”
Had a conversation with a young aspiring game writer this past week about what kind of work you should have in your portfolio. Thought I’d jot down the high-level and share -
Some personal news: After a wild ride, today is my last day at Epic Games. Working on Fortnite these last few years has been an experience like no other, and I’m honored I got to play a part.

Twas the day before Christmas
And in Twitter HQ
a sad man ran rampant
With naught else to do.
Unplugging and fiddling
Making a terrible mess
He looked for the fix
To his mental distress.
“Interesting” he said
To his legions of fans
They liked iy & viewed it
But did not understand
Over the last few months I’ve gotten to have a lot of fun and interesting conversations with folks in film/television about interactive storytelling, and the tricky task of making a story arc when the viewer has a say. I jotted down some notes about a trick I’ve been liking:
For those curious, a MultiVersus character script usually comes in around 180-250 unique lines and is a combination of generic lines and lines for fighting with or against different characters.
My advice for game writers who have landed their first job: Begin a personal writing project on the side. Having something that is yours to go home to is a sanity lifeline when the day job is driving you crazy.
And it will drive you crazy eventually.
I'm no expert on civil matters, but I do know that I was a little 17-y.o. white nerd who still got gaslit and bullied by the people supposedly there to protect me. We as a country need to take a hard look at our police and the way they're letting the people, especially POC, down.
This past year
@stampylongnose
and
@stacysays
did a series where they recreated their MCSM houses - in the process Stampy collected a legion of parrots, which we referenced with his new “Parrot Prince” persona in the finale.
@TimOfLegend
Oh my god yes. Back at Telltale we used fan wikis all the time; best way of quickly checking what happened in a past season, episode, etc.
Filmmakers and theater makers get into tv because there's a lot of money to be made there and then pretend like they're elevating the medium. (TV doesn't need you to elevate it, darlings.)
Don't work in a medium you loathe and paper over your insecurities with snobbery.
Alan Wake 2’s Lead Narrative Designer
@SimonWasselin
and Principal Narrative Designer Molly Maloney are going to be giving an extremely cool talk at GDC about expiation and player engagement:
@erikaishii
This might just be the most overworked “& more” in the business right now! I’ve lost track of how many things I need to congratulate you on!
My brother Luke, the magician, was staying with us all week and it was only after he got home that he revealed he’d been subjecting the cats to magic.
(Seriously, go follow him on IG: )
As a man in games, being a good ally and helping make safe spaces isn't sexy or showy work. You need to listen to people who have been hurt and have uncomfortable conversations with people doing the hurting. It's not enough to be "not one of the bad ones." 1/5
Fellow game devs: What are your hobbies that have nothing to do with your work? Personally I love tinkering with synthesizers, drum machines, and other musical gadgets despite having zero musical ability.
I occasionally get really nice messages from kids and teens about Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 and how it helped them deal with tough times where their friends were growing apart.
I watched a let's play of Hitman 2 this weekend and heard one of the NPCs say the literal line "Exposition exposition, I am fixing a fusebox" and it's all I've been able to think about since.
Feeling a little overwhelmed right now by the number of reactions, responses, and people sharing their own stories on this tweet. I see you all and am so happy to see other stutterers sharing their own experiences. 💜💜💜
