Three 15 year old lads got the bus to Wembley ro support Boreham Wood turned away from the ticket office because they don't have an adult with them. I first went to a match on my own when I was eight. A strange world we live in today.

I took this photo earlier when I went to collect a parcel. The sorting office is just down the road from Meadow Lane. The impressive new sign celebrates Notts being FL founder members. The other recognises the reality of playing in div 3 or 4 .

Great performance by @CTFC1904 tonight beating table toppers @BelperTownFC 2-1 in the @NorthernPremLge East. Only took a 50mm F1.4 lens to ensure I concentrated on watching the game. Some OK results, though.

I managed 2 matches in Madrid at the weekend. The 1st was at the Boetticher, home of @SADvillaverde . One of the quirkiest grounds I've visited in Spain & it would give a ground grader in England palpitations! It's a big piece of real estate with developments all around. 1/4

@jslovechild The only time I took a camera there I never thought about taking a picture of the turnstiles. It was a 4-0 win against Halifax in November 1985. The stand is empty having been condemned after the Bradford fire.

Great night up at Collingham where @TheHighwayMen_ beat @NFFCAcademy 2-0 to reach the final of the @NottsFA Sat Senior Cup A four figure crowd & exceptionally well organised The club saw some dark times before its relaunch last summer. I'm pleased for those who stuck with them

Not the way @CTFC1904 would've wanted the season to end but a 5th place finish and two cup runs can't be sniffed at. A big turnout of Millers supporters with most travelling on the coach plus a few who made it to @stockton_townfc under their own steam.

A tight game down by the Trent tonight where title favourites @BourneTownFC bt hosts @Dunkirk_FC 1-0 in @utdcos D1 The ground has a very smart external fence but under lights it proved a hindrance as my AF kept locking onto it. Something for me to bear in mind for the future

Just in the local coffee shop and came across an actual Nottingham born and bred Tranmere fan who's been following the Rovers for over thirty years. On asking him why he said as a kid he couldn't choose between County and Forest so chose to support the team bottom of Div 4.

A good day out at @wisbechtownfc where @CTFC1904 won 3-0. With injuries mounting up there was a debut for Kieran Knight, the return from injury of Martin Ball, a MOM performance from Louis Czerwak and a small but enthusiastic group of away fans. A friendly club too. @CarltonFans

Great result for @RadfordFC64 tonight. A 3-1 win at @HucknallTownFc in the @NottsFA Senior Cup Dreadful conditions with rain & a strong wind saw the opener scored straight from a Saad corner Czerwak equalised but a storming run by Tank & a brilliant header from Seaton sealed it

Enjoyable trip to Oakwell tonight. Rovers played really well and ought to have won without the need for pens. Only downside was the gateman thought I was a pensioner. The upside was it only cost me a fiver to get in!

A bit of a shock at Coronation Park this evening, @TheHighwayMen_ beating @CTFC1904 3-2 in the @NottsFA Saturday Senior Cup final. A feisty affair with Millers giving themselves too much to do having gone 2-0 down in the first half. They nearly pulled it back, though.

A trip to @LongEatonUnited today v @CTFC1904 . It ended 1-1 with 2 reds and ten yellows. You could say that feistiness is what you want in a local derby but an unfortunate consequence was a serious injury for Millers' Niall Davie who has had more than his fair share of injuries.

After the match last night I stopped off to have a look at the new Jimmy Sirrel & Brian Clough mural on Meadow Lane. I think when it's illuminated the covered over windows show up a bit more than in daylight but it doesn't detract from a magnificent addition to the area.

Clinical performance from Eastwood up at @RainworthMWFC tonight in the @NottsFA Sat Senior Cup, winning 5-0 with 4 goals scored from outside the box There was certainly plenty to celebrate. The floodlights are probably the best at any Notts non-league ground, which is appreciated

Lots of tasks undertaken by (social distancing) volunteers down at Stoke Lane @CTFC1904 this afternoon. The academy suite, which looked like it hadn't had a lick of paint in aeons, looks much better now. Good to see Dan and Curtis from the coaching team putting in a good stint.

After Saturday's soaking I took the easy option on Sunday and went to see a 3rd division (5th tier) game at El Pozuelo in Torremolinos. Not a bad ground for the level and there was a well stocked bar. The food offering included a bowl of tripe in tomato sauce for €2.50.

Very sad news about Malcolm Storer today. His @ontheroadblog was the first site I checked on getting home from the match on a Saturday. It was only on Sunday I messaged him to mention he had the wrong KO time for Long Eaton v Carlton & he mentioned he was poorly. RIP

A trip up to @SelstonFC on Wed primarily to see the trio of @CTFC1904 players there on dual reg(Ball, Cockram, Quinn). @HeanorTownFC won late on 2-1 after Bally had given the home side the lead with a header. Excellent floodlights for photos especially considering they're step 5

So tomorrow our My Best XI is with the delightful John Clayton. He only spent a year at Prenton Park, but he certainly made his mark, and Tranmere made a mark on him. He even dug this out - the Rothman's Golden Boot for netting 31 league goals that season #TRFC

A short but enjoyable trip to Spain this weekend. Starting in Santander I saw Levante win 1-0 at Racing. Not great quality considering it was 2nd tier. Probably the highlight was the pre-match rendition of Racing's club hymn.

Today I went to watch @Dunkirk_FC v @RadfordFC64 (4-2) . The home side led 2-1 at the break, the difference between the teams perhaps being Dunkirk looking after the ball better and Radford looking a bit flat.

Probably not the most significant penalty shoot out today between clubs from Notts & Derbys but this one was won by the team from over the border. @1st_town bt @KeyworthUtdFc 4-2 on pens after a 3-3 draw in the @NottsSeniorLge Cup final at @HucknallTownFc . Excellent game.

In spite of the rain showers plenty of work was done by the team of volunteers(especially Dennis) down at @carltontown , Stoke Lane today. More of the same next Sat 2pm if anyone else wants to join us. As Tommy says "high standards on the pitch, high standards off the pitch"

30 miles down the M1 this evening to see the crunch encounter between @Standrewsbar & @RadfordFC64 in @utdcos div 1 In a blood & thunder game the visitors shaded it 2-1, despite missing a pen, to keep their play-off hopes alive whilst the home side are consigned to relegation.

I'm not sure if I've posted this before. Ex- #TRFC John Clayton featured in a Dutch magazine whilst playing for Fortuna Sittard, that I picked up on a trip to the continent in 1988.

@jslovechild In 1981 I was going to bunk off school to help clear the snow at Prenton Park for a midweek game. When I phoned the club to ask what time they said I was the only person to have contacted them so not to bother and the match was postponed.

@jslovechild I once interviewed a woman who turned up with a broken finger. She wasn't the strongest candidate but the way she described how she'd been bitten by a police horse outside a Birmingham v Celtic friendly had me in stitches so I offered her the job, which she accepted.
