Making the best of this unplanned moment. No track? Measure out your reps on a semi-flat surface. No training partners? Blessed to have a partner to ride along with me. No races? Cherishing the journey and remembering my why ⚡️
I so admire all you amazing people who have the discipline to run at sunrise. Serious question: what time do you go to bed?! I’m in a rhythm where sunset is my magic training hour 🏃🏽♀️
As a woman who very willingly and consensually became pregnant, I can say that this is not an experience that should be forced upon anyone. Full stop.
Heartbroken for our country today.
Disappointing to see the NCAA make conflicting decisions re: fans... NO fans at an event held outdoors but fans permitted at indoor championships?! XC athletes deserve to have their families at their championships just like FB & MBB.
Dear
@maxkellerman
: have you ever seen the steeplechase? Have you ever watched a hurdler train? Saying that track only tests fast-twitch muscles is lazy and inaccurate. So much athleticism across all track & field disciplines!
ESPN’s Max Kellerman says track is not a sport and you only get into it because you’re a failure of an athlete and not tough enough...dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Little Sunday cruise to hit a 70 mile week— my highest mileage since my hammy ended my time on the track 🙌🏽 Still a long way to go, keeping the progression steady, but I think I’ve fallen back in love with running after a bit of burnout 🥰
Why do I run? To empower all little girls to follow their biggest dreams. To give dark-haired, brown-skinned girls an athlete who looks like them!

Not feeling ultra productive during quarantine life, but managed to finish knitting up this gorgeous crop sweater! It’s the little victories, right? 👵🏼🧶🖤
Just a thought— if you’re an alumni of a collegiate program, use the recent elimination of XC/T+F programs as a push to re-engage with your school: donate if you can, reach out and support coaches/athletes, show up to events. Let the administration know it’s a value!

Obviously the worst thing about this decision is that
@emmajcoburn
doesn’t get a much-deserved Rio medal upgrade. But Jebet’s actions trickle down to us non-podium finishers as well. I lined up against her several times in 2016-17... (1/2)

4 out of 65 Power 5 schools have a female AD and only one is a woman of color— when my career on the track is over, I fully intend to work my way up the ranks and join them 💪🏽
Are real women not capable of consuming an entire burger? The last few times I ordered a burger in public, men around me have expressed shock when I clean my plate. 😬
Mid-week motivation: one of the first steeplechase races, Germany 1910. Thankful the barriers have shortened over the years! (hugs to
@darrenrovell
for sending me this gem!) ⚡️💪🏽🏆
This is exactly what happened to me with the water jump in the steeple after 2017. Something that I did hundreds of times, never had to overanalyze… suddenly gone. I haven’t been able to “tough it out” or force myself to do it efficiently since.
The point being... it occurs suddenly, and you lose the ability to do the thing that you've done thousands of times.
Imagine if all of the sudden you picked up a pencil and couldn't write anymore... That's what it feels like. The panic/freak out that follows exacerbates things.
Another special congrats to Val, who becomes just the 7th American woman to ever break 9:20 in the steeple! 💪🏽 (An accolade that will definitely become less of a “thing” in the next year or so…)
This was an incredible race. Emma Coburn, Courtney Frerichs, and Val Constien make the Olympic steeplechase team. Heartbreak for Leah Falland, as she fell with two laps to go. Fantastic races by nearly everyone in the race, but only three go to Tokyo.

We’re in labor! This is more of an ultra marathon than a sprint Baby and I are rocking and rolling in the birth center but I don’t think sleep will be happening so I’ll use the downtime to highlight some of my recent interviews 💪🏽

Wow, Grayson Murphy runs a big personal best and makes it look easy. She wins the first steeplechase prelim in 9:25.37 and hits the Olympic standard. Courtney Wayment, in second, also gets a personal best and an Olympic standard (9:27.17).

Her presence changed the dynamics of every race and deprived me of prize money. Sportsmanship matters to me over everything, so all those times I congratulated her for a victory... those were all lies. Dopers insult ALL of us who compete clean. (2/2)
It doesn’t have to be sexy but it does have to get done 💪🏽⚡️🏆 Focusing on control versus speed with these last TRX core sessions before the US Championships!
So incredibly grateful to have a few opportunities to compete alongside
@gg_runs
. Our sport will forever be touched by her bravery and strength. 💕

The time I ran to finish runner-up at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Champs would not have qualified me for the steeple final this year 😳 These women are crushing the event!! So excited to see it continue to evolve 💪🏽
It's officially easier to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials (9:50.00) than it is to make it to the

steeplechase final. That was fast, and brutal. Biggest upset of the night is Hannah Steelman, third in this event in 2019, does not advance.

“What do you do?”
“I’m a professional runner.”
“Wow, what’s your marathon time?”
“Actually, I don’t do marathons, I run on the track.”
“But I thought you said you were a runner.”
“Right, I run this event called the steep...”
“But wait, what’s your real job?”

As I transition from track to trails & OCR racing, I’m also exploring other career ambitions! My dream: to lead a college athletic department and use my experience as a female, minority collegiate/pro athlete to support the next generation of student-athletes.
It’s amazing the number of people who are shocked at the notion of a girl attending a baseball game (or any sporting event) alone. I’m an athlete, a sports fan, and want to work in sports— why wouldn’t I come to a game, even solo?!
Voting is our superpower! And I believe in the power of the people. Thank you to everyone who phone banked, knocked on doors, sent in their ballots early, pestered their families and friends to get to the polls. It’s Election Day, let’s do this! 🇺🇸
Sending you light and love this holiday season! Huge thank you to essential workers, healthcare professionals and everyone who is separated from loved ones to keep their communities safe! 🎄🎁❤️

opinion writer took the time to speak to current or former student-athletes. The department ALWAYS expected athletes to graduate in 4 years & gave us the support to do so.
