St. Dominic's College is an all-girls Voluntary Secondary School, established by the Dominican Sisters in 1835. Our motto is "Veritas" meaning "Truth".
Congratulations to our pupil Hazel Byard Shaughnessy in 5LCA who took on the challenge of cycling 500KM throughout August in aid of children's charities. She single-footedly raised an incredible sum of €1,265 for Temple Street CHF and Ronald McDonald House. Well done Hazel! 👏🚴♀️

Congratulations to Shona Gogarty who has been announced as a national winner of the MFL Digital Storytelling Competition, 2021. Shona, who was also a winner in 2020, combined her skills in German and digital animation to create a wonderful cartoon story.

Ms O'Byrne, Year Head to Fifth Years, sharing memories and some final words of wisdom to her year group. Ms O'Byrne has had a long and impactful career at St Dominic's College and she will be dearly missed by her students and colleagues at St Dominic's College.
Our TY Maths students have been researching Sir William Rowan Hamilton. On Wednesday we visited the site at Broome Bridge where Sir William Rowan Hamilton first wrote down the fundamental formula for quaternions on 16 October 1843.
Our Senior Camogie team has reached the All-Ireland Semi-Final! They will be playing this Saturday at 2.30pm in Plunketts. We hope to get as many supporters out as possible to support our girls.

We are extremely proud to share the news that St Dominic's Fifth Year, Emily Loftus, represented Ireland in Scotland in the 2019 Home International Regatta in August as part of the Irish Junior Team, coming 2nd for the 8, and 3rd for the Coxless 4! 🚣♀️🥈🥉
First Year students had a lovely break from their classes on Wednesday 22nd September for the annual St. Francis Hospice Coffee Morning. The sun shone so the event was held in the courtyard, led by a A crew of TY students. €275.05 was raised on the morning. Well done all!
Our school hosted the first ever Dominican Challenge on Friday 16th. We welcomed students from 7 Dominican schools from across Ireland to take part in the university challenge style quiz. Congratulations to Muckross Park College, who were the winners on the day!

The basketball season got underway at St Dominic's College yesterday with the U19s and the U16s playing against Colaiste Mhuire at home. Thank you to our neighbours for being worthy opponents. Well done to both teams on their impressive performances and victories.
Today First Years celebrated Grandparents' Day as part of Catholic Schools Week. We welcomed grandparents and close relatives to the school for a wonderful service of welcome in the Chapel. Thank you to all involved in organising the event and to all who came!
During last week's JCPA ceremony, several individual certificates were awarded. Well done to Lara Donnelly, who was one of 19 students nationwide to get top grades in all 11 subjects! Certss were also given to other students who achieved excellent grades
