People are ready to throw fists when Thousand Talents program is brought up but we gotta remember that PRC fixed their Tier-1 cities along with these talent retention and return programs and setup a first class industrial economy. We only keep crying on twitter.

55 launches this calendar year for China. We've not done even 5. Even if you believe the quality over quantity, there is a minimum quantity needed to even compare. We've got to do better faster sooner.

Dr K Harinarayana said today in a webinar: The Su30MKI is flying w/ analog systems! Why aren't we doing a wholesale upgrade with composites, digital fbw etc! We have great experience in both today and it should be doable. Where is the vision in the IAF ?

DRDO has been asking for funds to setup one for years now. Just ₹800 Cr for a CoE. Zero progress. So ADA & HAL now have to forge it in 3 pieces and weld them together. Maybe we could ask the Chinese to forge AMCA & TEDBF bulkheads. We could get it done at a cheap rate.

"DRDO can only make missiles". Spelling & capitalisation mistakes can be excused but the entire article reads like a school essay written at the last minute. So many tired old tropes here like the 30 year Tejas delay. "Disdained by Indian pilots" is straight up nonsense.

🧵 This week I wrote an assessment of India's military modernisation. I look at the post-Galwan pivot from Pakistan to China, the reforms to command & recruitment and promising signs on the role of technology. For all that, the gap with China remains wide.

CNC machines, CMM, lasers, 3d printers - all the machines that build the things you want. We've not even scratched the surface of these areas. As India industrialises, it must make all these 'building blocks' ¬ be beholden to Europeans & Koreans & Americans. Defly not Chinese.
