You can’t please everyone. So, here is one for Team “Look at Me” and one for Team “Woke”.

I think our members will like what they find when they return next week!
Day 1 of our fairway mowing study in partnership with the
@USGAGrnSection
. Using GPS loggers,we are looking at timing differences between striping and looping fairways. Excited to see the results.
I am absolutely overwhelmed with emotions. This has been a dream of mine for 12 years. Lots of reflecting and processing to do over the next couple days but right now it’s time to have a beer with the boys and celebrate the fact WE JUST HOSTED A US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

On September 18th 1970 Manny started working on the Agronomy Team at Contra Costa Country Club. Today he celebrated 50 YEARS on the staff! An incredibly hardworking, knowledgeable, & all around great human being. We are lucky to have him! One of the industries finest.

Super proud of the team’s hard work over the past three months to grow in our roughs after poa and warm season carnage. Pre-Emergent has started to go out. It’s summer now.
#TroonAgronomy
Our member/guest kicks off today with the practice round. Proud of the teams hard work to get us to this point. This is when the fun begins. Time to push greens fast, dry and firm over the next 3 days.

If you’re of the praying type, Some prayers would be appreciated for my sister as she undergoes an emergency procedure today. I wish I could hop on a plane right now to be with her. She’s the strongest person I’ve ever met but prayers would be appreciated. Thank you.
Love or hate them, tournament season is over so it’s time to chop back the eye lashes on our bunkers. Raj and Jasvir are artists with a line trimmer. Balbir, Jaswant, and Sarbjit doing a good job cleaning debris and touching up bunkers behind them this afternoon.

As I lock up the shop tonight I’m filled with excitement as tomorrow begins my first invitational as a superintendent. Incredibly proud of the team as we have battled to preserve our course all summer long for this week.
This fall it got really ugly as we aggressively tackled the Bermuda, kikuyu, & poa populations in the roughs for the first time since the renovation. Really proud of the progress we’ve made. Still have more work to do but, with the help of Mother Nature, we are seeing progress.
@NoLayingUp
The scary thing about this stat is that it doesn’t factor in that Tiger’s early wins had much smaller purses than what they are playing for now.
Today was my final day as an Assistant-In-Training at Pebble Beach Golf Links. It was truly an honor & privilege to be a member of this team for the past year. This place is filled with incredible people from top to bottom and I will miss each and every one of them. (1/2)
Great weather and two weeks with no cart traffic on fairways has them in great shape after overseed and topdressing. Mowing recommenced late late week so you know what that means, IT’S LOOPING SEASON!!

An absolutely unreal scene today at Pebble Beach. We went from sunny and clear to pounding hail with rain and extreme wind within minutes. Team pulled together and got the place back in shape so they could continue playing. Two more holes tomorrow!
#ATTProAm
Incredibly proud of the team’s hard work this week & every day! Today kicks off the practice round of our Men’s Invitational. This week’s record setting heat capped a long, hot, dry spring and summer. Two more days of heat and then cool for the weekend.

Thankful everyday for my membership and their support of our team, mentors who continue to help guide me, &
@Troon
for taking a chance on a 24-year old for their first superintendent job. (1/2).
I still don’t know how I got her to agree to marry me but she is my love of my life and the reason I work hard to be the best man I can be every day! Love receiving some of our engagement photos today. Thank you Ashley Baumgartner for your amazing work.
Job board was a little light for a Wednesday. Just under 39 acres of fairways and approaches knocked out today between the two of us. Tomorrow, WE SPRAY!
The comments on this post are….revealing. Remember, Roy Williams said it best, “The two most difficult jobs in the world are being a college basketball coach and a golf course superintendent, because everyone knows how to do your job.”
I guess I’m truly a superintendent now....I had a pair of interviews for open greenskeeper positions today and neither of them showed up. I wonder if the recently passed expansion of federal unemployment benefits and covid checks had anything to do with it.
Cool morning setting up the entire golf course for Fox Sports to do flyovers in preparation for the

Side note, this core harvester is the real deal. Best money I have ever spent. I wish I had got 2.
First mow with our new Crop Sensors from the

Ready to pokes tens of millions of holes, spread nearly 800 mil tons of sand & continue to improve CCCC.
One of my favorite things on

every winter is seeing Clubs investing in the spaces of their Agronomy teams. Contra hopping on that trend this year with new flooring, paint, ceiling tiles, tables & chairs in our facilities.

T-7 AM. The team crushed it once again! Pictured is about half of the front nine crew! These guys brought humor coupled with an intensity & attention to detail to make that made a truly wonderful experience! All that is left to do is sit back & watch some golf!
#USOpenAgronomy19
My dad got his second hole in one today! His friend took a video of him walking up to the green. My favorite part of the video was that he first goes and fixes his ballmark prior to getting the ball out of the hole and celebrating. I’ve trained him well. Proud Superintendent son!

Celebrated by verticutting, throwing sand, poking holes and spraying vivax!
The views from the top of the grandstand on the 7th hole may be too good. Another beautiful afternoon of spotwatering. The team is killing it as we enter the final 31 days of

Learning the nuts and bolts of agronomy is important but equally important is experiencing and learning from supers with different management strategies. In my experience, I learned more about the leader I wanted to be and, equally important, the leader I DIDNT want to be.
This day is over but the fun is just beginning as the volunteers arrive tomorrow. Look forward to putting a face to many of the names and twitter handles that I already know.

I will never forget the first sunrise I saw while working on a golf course. It’s one of the greatest perks of what we do and few get to experience it. Today was special. Thankful every day for our amazing team. Hot one this weekend

Christmas in February. Since May 2020 we’ve been spraying fairways and roughs with a 1750. No more!! Looking forward to getting this set up and calibrated.

My head pro took this awesome photo right before our maintenance parade yesterday. Finally have a photo worthy of replacing Hole 9 at Cypress as my header.
A great week spent down at Pebble Beach! Chris, Bubba, Eric & the entire team knocked it out of the park. It was great to see everyone and mow some greens again! Truly blessed to share these memories with my father!! Look forward to year 13 next February!
I am thrilled to start the next chapter of my career as an Assistant Superintendent for

Longest day of the year for myself. 850+ members & their guest at the club this afternoon for 4th of July party & fireworks show. Starting day off with a greens spray. Will wrap it up around 1am after fireworks cleanup.

It’s day 1 again for me. Kicking off year 2 with Contra Costa Country Club. Looking forward to learning more about myself, turfgrass, and life each and everyday.

An absolutely perfect day for a spring fertilizer app. Soil temps are about 14-21 days ahead of this time last year. The season is here!!

Zac, our guess is approximately 10-15% more labor hours to stripe than loop. Before lunch with two guys looping fairways, we get to 15 maybe to the 16th. Whereas striping we get through 13 maybe to the 15th (14 is a par 3). Hope to have actual hours comparisons later this year.

I love a checked off list on a maintenance day! Team killed it today!
Rain projects continue. Got started cleaning up our landmark benches and bag stands on the range. Members are going to think we bought all new ones. It’s been a few years since they’ve gotten some TLC.
#TroonAgronomy
After 49 days of closure Contra Costa Country Club members tee’d it back up today! This crew came back last Thursday & worked their butts off to polish the place up for re-opening. Couldn’t do what we do if it wasn’t for this team!
Updates- these guys are good. Broken T joint on the greens loop overnight resulted in a wash out of some of the greens profile. Max lead our team performing surgery and the green is in great shape for healing heading into the invitational.
A huge thank you to
@TurfStarWestern

for a wonderful couple of days down at Pebble Beach for the US Women’s Open. Congrats to Bubba, Michael, Sean, and the rest of the team for a wonderful event. The Pebble Beach Family is truly special.
