It seems as if the account has reached its first great milestone - 1000 followers! We are very grateful for your support, and as a sign of gratitude we would like to present a present - we announce a 5 zone demo for the "present" time period of the game!
Sonic and Tails reach the treetops of West Side Island, to find that the area is already getting industrialized by Dr. Eggman. The view from here is absolutely stunning, but there is no time to waste, as Metropolis Zone is very close!
The Wood Zone is an area of scenic imagery, however, to get there, you must take a long climb upward. Here is a preview of the starting section of Wood Zone Act 1 as it stands right now in the game!
Not much progress had been shown off as far as it goes, but we are proud to show off our own take on Sand Shower Zone! Avoid deadly quicksands and blast through a treacherous desert wasteland! Be on the lookout for more updates later down the line.
Greetings! We are looking for an extra tileset/stage artist for our project. If you're interested, feel free to message our Twitter account or DM joshyflip

This year has brought us all a lot of fun, a demo, and a boom in popularity. The year may be over, but we are still not done! Have a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
Our fangame has reached the second anniversary of its public reveal! We almost have 6 acts finished out of 10 to come for the demo. However, the wait for the next release will definitely won't take two more years, as the development going forward will be way easier.
As an addendum to yesterday's post about barrels in Ocean Wind, we already are planning certain use cases for them. Below is a sketch of a chunk of layout that could make its way into OWZ and the multiple way you can handle playing through it with or without the barrel.
Hello World! Sonic 2 Time Quest is a fangame led by
@joshyflip
with the goal of resurrecting the original time-travelling concept of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. It uses Clickteam Fusion 2.5 and the Core Framework+ by Nihil.
Graphically speaking, our fan game's goal is to combine good aspects of prototype and finalized designs with extra polish. Here's a frame from the walking animation for TQ (middle), with the proto and final versions to the left and right respectively. (Note - sprites may change)
Hello everyone. We have been working hard on this game to show off our latest and greatest achievement, - a perfect recapturing of a long scrapped zone...
...Introducing Dust Hill Zone! Just as you remember it from the mockups.
Contrary to what our activity had shown, no, we aren't dead. Progress had been made on a robust level editor system for the game, and now that it's done, we can get to porting levels to it and also getting to show off some more new, exciting stuff in the near future!
The demo will include such zones as Emerald Hill, Ocean Wind, Wood Canopy, Sand Shower, and Metropolis. With cutscenes, a map of the island, and bonus extras, it will surely provide a great glimpse into the future that the game is planning to have!
For example,much of the art in Ocean Wind is finished, many other levels are following suit,and once the tileset and code stuff is done for a level, we can implement it ingame. We haven't shown much yet because seeing Emerald Hill again isn't really that fun. Stay tuned for more!
We are also workshopping other levels for the game - Ocean Wind already has quite amount of progress in doing a rough draft of the level, and after finalizing the layout we can soon implement it in-game fully and finish the art.
We currently do not have a release date for said demo, but be on the lookout for updates and more. And again, big thanks to everyone for sticking around with the project and being patient and supportive.
The most important change so far for the project had been a move to the HEDGEFUSION Framework, which supports a Tails AI to precisely replicate Sonic 2's gameplay even more. Here's how he works in action so far! (Bear in mind, things are a bit buggy ATM)
Unfortunately, today beings horrible news. Sonic 2 Time Quest is cancelled due to major conflicts on the team. However, we were able to agree to one thing, and this brings good news
Do you want to help us realise the vision of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 that never was? Well, we are currently open! DM joshyflip

Introducing the new ground tiles for our first zone, inspired in what we had before. By the way, what zone names come to your mind when you look at this zone?
Hello! This post may be a bit too late, but we wish you all a happy new year from the S2TQ team! While we are at it, we are happy to give shoutouts to some other awesome fangames which are being developed on at the moment.
Thread:
Soon enough, there will be 1:1 parity between the older Core build and the new HEDGEFUSION build, and after that we can start work on Ocean Wind and Metropolis, as well as some other extra things for the demo!
I hope everyone enjoyed playing the demo for S2TQ this year at
@SAGExpo
! Do you have any feedback to give and what would you like to see in future demos?
In case if there's any concern over the state of this platform, we have a YouTube account for our project. Be sure to subscribe and expect future updates on there (and still here unless the site goes down)
Merry Christmas, everyone! We're planning to release a small playable demo featuring both acts of Sunrise Gate Zone within the first quarter of 2023!
In the meantime, have a small teaser of SGZ act 1.
note that everything shown is subject to change!
We'll see you in 2023!
As you saw in the gif, there are elemental shields in the game - they can be toggled as an unlockable in the options menu, along with some other tweaks to the game mechanics.
Anyway, don't let the month of absence fool you, we are very busy working on this game! Recently, our work has mostly been focused on original content for TQ and the engine, so there isn't much to show yet, BUT! Expect some updates soon! We have some cool stuff planned for later!
Hello everyone! Our team positions for composers and sprite artists are currently full, but we are still lacking in programmers. Reminder that we are using Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for our fan-game, in case you're interested.
Stay cool everyone, and Merry Christmas!
@ansoni29
We actually did earlier today! It's actually well informed about the development but some things don't really line up with other dev material (specifically Rock World being the winter zone). Otherwise it's very well made and well researched.
