Shadow is more OOC than IDW Sonic and Shadow. For some reason, his past (Maria) still matters for him despite he moved from that in both games and iirc in X. He turned into unintentionally edgy puppet with no reason to become such.

Levels. They are the same corridors but with extreme amount of empty space with zero purpose but making the game work worse. They look empty and boring due to simple realisation of such concepts as beach or citadel. They're mixes of assets, not locations with unique design.

Oh and plane's levels. Their design is anti-Sonic. You barely do anything dynamic because of plane physics and situations on levels like pressing buttons and, hear me out, WAITING. Also if I want to snipe someone, I'll better replay Sniper Wolf boss fights.

Also there are enemy arenas but neither Sonic nor Shadow have abilities that can give you good character action. It's just homing attack spam, Chaos Blast with shitty voice line and Light Speed Attack that you use only at the end. I'll talk about characters later.

Exiled is poor man's Armstrong. He appears earlier in the game, his motivation is literally "mom I wanna go home", his existence means nothing for average Sonic fan he doesn't have proper connections with Dark Oak and co. No backstory, no charisma. One-dimentional moss.

Voice acting. All of VAs are parodists. Shadow VA (pic related) lied about his progress and new lines sound as poorly as older ones. Sonic is off-brand Jason. Eggman sounds like his VA's actual voice and that's ironic because Sumochkin doesn't like Roger for similar reason.

And that bullet hell isn't good either.Maria is the perfect example. Hi Sumochkin btw. One of attacks summons sircles of spikes which have dead zone. But only for once. Next time she spawns more spikes so bye dead zone. And other attacks don't change btw. Why? Because why not.

Boost Sonic throws away the element of gaining speed by your skill and accents more on timing your actions and keeping flow. It's way more linear and Sonic has tighter controls when you're fast because, if you didn't know, that's how physics work.

That was one half of concept. The other is mixing X lore and games canon. If you didn't know, games always took place only on Earth, a single planet. X didn't. Also Gaia Temples were buried inside Earth and Russian localisation misses detail about "new" temples.

Bosses. They all are janky and have awful hitboxes.There's huge gap between ep1-4 and ep5-7 bosses.If the first group just requires you to spam into their face while they all of their arsenal with no phases,the second one has elements of bullet hell. You better stop using gamepad
