@acweyand So important for restless legs syndrome! We do PO or IV if ferritin is less than 75, and some times 100. Iron studies do not effectively measure brain levels.

CVS Caremark denied Xywav for cataplexy in narcolepsy saying the patient didn't have enough cataplexy to qualify (14 events per 14 days). This is 100% arbitrary. You think it's ok to have 13 episodes of cataplexy in 14 days?! @JazzPharma

#Residency training is sorely lacking in both education about #sleep #disorders and also in regards to #resident #welllness when it comes to sleep. Proper protocols need to be implemented to ensure physician and patient safety. #SleepPeeps

Four years ago I had suicidal ideation due to repeated sleep deprivation. I was a resident working long hours, including 28-hour calls. Sleep deprivation is an independent risk factor for suicide. Any discussion about resident wellness is wholly inadequate if it excludes sleep.

Croup is no joke this year. 4yo just got back from @MottChildren s/p decadron, and two rounds of albuterol and racemic epi. Waiting room sounded like a chorus of barking seals. ED was packed. Please vaccinate and wear masks to reduce burden.
