People take this as dehumanization, but he practically saying "no one would believe you are human when you are belitting human life like this, so start acting like the human being you are" +
Dazai was being ignorant and being disrespectful to the dead, who for context, was a guy who helped Chuuya out with the verlaine situation in sb. He said "oh wouldn't this be good since an executive poistion is open now?" like who wouldn't be pissed by that? +
basically it was a way of saying of dazai's inhumane behavior was shitty and was basically a wake up call for him. He's seen Dazai act humane before, stormbringer was a prime example of that when Dazai gave him a choice, so he knows dazai is capable of acting humane. +
So he punches him, because Chuuya's lived a life of survival, so that punch was probably instinct. The words he says after to Dazai was not dehumanization! "I'm human too" "No one would believe that"+
Going from being all lazy and not doing anything when people are dying to actively saying to Shibusawa that what he did to the colonel was wrong. His entire perspective on the stuation had shifted due to Chuuya's words.
It's notably even said when Dazai gives Chuuya a few minutes to think about it: "It was an expression dazai never makes." We also need to heavily take Chuuya's character into account. +
Anyways, what happened afterwards the scene is incredibly important because it shows the impact Chuuya has on Dazai. After what happened, Dazai gets involved with the conflict which had been going on for 70 days.
He's has been dehumanized in the past and heavily struggles with humanity however, he still sees the humanity in other people. As seen with him thinking Verlaine to be a human in stormbringer. +
pls let children be.the way i saw people yell at aya for looking up to her dad, see kenji get called a people pleaser & ignoring the way he got constantly impaled & blown up yet baby adults that get hurt, call kyouka a mary sue & ignore her trauma, & now demonize Q is a annoying
@chuyangst
i also hate when they say that dazai is weak, that guy is not weak. compared to chuuuya he isn't as strong, yes, but he's still strong like?? i really hate the brawn chuuya and brains dazai take. they are BOTH brawn (strong) and brain (smart), don't even play with me, pal smh 😔
@chuuyicidal
"he would tell him to cut deeper" are we talking about the same chuuya who freaked out seeing dazai thrown around against tree in the lovecraft fight? what bsd are they reading?
im actually tired of bsd fans misuderstanding scenes and missing context ngl. every situation has complexity and nuance but people always look at scenes surface level and refuse to dig deeper and im tired of it. i've seen it a lot recently and i hate it.
@chuuyasattorney
kenji as a whole isn't scared of ppl tbh guy is too friendly but yeah chuuya isn't particularly overly intimdating like ppl make him out to be esp towards non enemies
me trying to explain that mental illness is never an excuse for a character's actions but a guide to understanding why a character are the way they are and why they act a certain way
"i hate x character bc of their fans" is such a stupid arguement to me ngl. I wish people would seperate characters from fans more,look into the characters for what they are and ignore the fans. if you're gonna let fans come between you exploring depth of a character then ur loss
I don't understand why people are so against looking into character motives, even characters they hate. Someone explaining a characters motives and explaining why they are the way they are isnt excusing or justifying anything the character does.
pls sb/block me if you buy food at mcdonalds, starbucks, and many other fast food chains that support the genocide of the murders of innocent palenstines. who cares if you're hungry, buy food from literally anywhere else that doesn't support an actual genocide.
why does everyone think dazai caluclates everything?? hello?? "oh he calculated to have atsushi hallucinate him" I highly doubt that but okay. bsdtt is strange.
