Thank you for such a wonderful review. Of all the things I expected when I moved to Nether Wallop Mill it was never otters! At the moment we just have the one otter as the family has dispersed. Sad in many ways but that is the cadence of natural life; they will return soon.

It's easy to forget that chalkstream fly fishing used to be the preserve of the rich and the landed. The Kanara fishery was one of the very first available on a day ticket back in the 1960's and it is still available on a day ticket today #fishingbreaks

A salutary lesson in the benefits of barbless flies. Kris was mowing Thursday and managed to embed in his finger a fly lost in the grass. Had it been barbless he could have slipped it straight out, as it wasn't he ended up in hospital to have it removed. Happily all’s well now
