A typical 5 handicap golfer averages 58ft proximity from 125-175y but when hitting from 175-225y their average proximity almost DOUBLES to 113ft 😳 Be aggressive off the tee to leave yourself as short a shot as possible to the green. Closer you are = closer you hit it. FACT.

Average Proximity for a typical 15 handicap from: 75-125y = 20 yards 125-175y = 30 yards 175-225y = 55 yards Aim to get as far down the hole as possible off the tee! (avoiding any obvious hazards of course)

Green Hit % from 50-100 yards 15 HCP = 49% 5 HCP = 66% The lower handicap golfer gives themselves more opportunities for birdie from this distance and ultimately shoots lower scores on average. So, if you are wanting to lower your handicap, get those wedges dialled in!

When it doubt, run it out! Data shows a 15 handicap gets up & down 38% of the time with a 9 iron, compared to ONLY 25% of the time with a LW. A ‘bump and run’ shot is easier to execute, keeps the ball on the ground and gets it rolling early. Give it a try!

One Putt Percentage 0 HCP = 37% 5 HCP = 34% 10 HCP = 31% 15 HCP = 30% 20 HCP = 30% 25 HCP = 25% For the 20/21 season the average PGA Tour one putt percentage was 39.32%. So don’t beat yourself up if you don’t hole every putt, even the best in the business don’t do that!

Do you hit it closer to the hole on average from 150 yards than your handicap? Average Proximity 0 HC = 41.6 ft 5 HC = 58.6 ft 10 HC = 63.4 ft 15 HC = 89.3 ft 20 HC = 103.0 ft 25 HC = 118.6 ft Work on those mid & long irons and you could see your handicap come down in no time!
