In honor of Pride month, I joined the
@ZAAKAHNY
podcast to discuss my experience as a conversion therapy survivor, as well as a larger conversation about being from a yeshivish background. To listen, head to the link in the tweet below. My story starts at about 25 minutes in.
This man and I have many differences. But we share a belonging to a tribe that is under attack right now (and we have the same name). Look at the quotes and replies. Unadulterated antisemitism.
There's been a popular Instagram/TikTok account portraying a Haredi gay jew. He never denies that it's his lived experience and appears to be living life as a proud LGBTQ Haredi person. Well, it's fake.
When I was a Haredi gay kid, I couldn't just take off my peyos and my black hat. It was a constant struggle and I was reckoning with it 24/7. I'm extremely upset that he is falsely portraying an experience without the nuance of living it.
There's been an article covering the fake Haredi TikTok person that I exposed. Click the link below. I hope to add my comments soon, as I didn't initially receive the dm that the reporter sent me.

We went to school together, Nachi. You were always super nice and got along great with everyone. I was bullied for being gay in 8th grade and I don't recall that you participated. What happened between then and now that you would have such a hateful person on your show?
It's extremely not ok to co-opt the identity of people who have lived and struggled without making it clear that it's an act. He claims to be a voice for others when all he's doing is putting on an outfit, filming a video, then taking it off.
Kassy is wrong about conversion. 100% wrong and honestly disgusting to see a convert say this. There are many valid streams of Judaism and I accept them all.
Hi, actual convert here.
If you didn’t convert Orthodox you’re not Jewish.
If you stand on the side of those who condone the murder of Jewish babies in their beds, you’re an enemy of the Jewish people.
@EladNehorai
Ridiculous. Nearly all of the 100 guests at my upcoming (gay) wedding are religious and Orthodox. And many more would be happy to come, but we're doing a small wedding.
A) A friendly reminder to discard all statistics shared without a source.
B) Low divorce rates doesn't necessarily equal happy marriages. Especially in communities where divorcees (and their kids) get ostracized from the community.
I'm all for criticism of the Israeli government. Politically active people should always criticize political systems when necessary. But this is fucking rich. Blood on your hands for being Jewish! Are you kidding me? That is an antisemitic trope used against Jews for centuries.

.edu. Absolutely sickening lack of morality here. She must receive disciplinary action.
It's the middle of the night but I'm still wired from my beautiful wedding. I'll try to post some more pics later, but the most amazing thing was that God blessed us with a beautiful rainbow during the entire chuppah. Incredibly beautiful. 🌈👨❤️👨✡️
Shua is a wonderful person and I'm so proud of him for agreeing to this piece. My hope is that this article offers an intimate view into the life of LGBTQ Orthodox people and their struggle. ✡️🌈
Also, great job
@thislouis
! Wonderfully written.
Didn't think I'd tweet so soon after deleting the app, but this is important. Please report Chanale's new account. Make sure to include the context in "add additional context" that she's trying to evade a suspension.

But why feature her? There are so many moments of chesed that you can share. She has caused so much harm to people and you're broadening her platform, as well as covering up her rhetoric.
@MalkaSvei
We have discussed this together but I want to make it more visible. The webinar was incredibly harmful and it triggered my PTSD. I couldn't sleep last night and felt like I was reliving my conversion therapy experience
Yomim Noraim/The High Holidays used to be the worst time of year for me. I was in constant dread when thinking about it. I would plead to God to make me straight and cry out about my sexual "sins." (1/2)
This year, I approach the chagim with hope and light. My marriage is in exactly one month and I have an amazing network of chosen family. While my life looks different than what I had previously wished for, I have everything I could ever I want. Shana Tovah to all! 🍎🍯
I didn't grow up celebrating Father's Day, as we only celebrated Jewish holidays. As an adult, I started buying my father a card every Father's Day. Currently, my relationship with him doesn't allow for that. I send solidarity to all struggling with this day. You're not alone.
If you discovered my profile through the fake Haredi Tiktok personality, please read what's below. This is what's most important. I lived the reality he's portraying and it feels disgusting that my hardships (and others from my background) are just being used for likes:

And I didn't even realize that Moshe Aharon Bauman is the co-host. I'm completely gutted. I know MA as an amazing person who would never stand for the hate spewed by Chaya. I'm at a total loss for words.
In 48 hours I will be married. It's been incredibly tough getting prepared for a wedding this week. I hope that it serves as an opportunity to celebrate Jewish life. Also, I'm pretty sure the last thing Hamas wants is a gay Jewish wedding. ✡️
This letter was responsible for my Rabbis sending me to conversion therapy and for my parents feeling comfortable keeping me there. I also didn't dare disagree with the preeminent American Orthodox rabbi.
Rabbi Shmuel Kamenentsky, one of the most revered and respected Rabbis of this generation, sent this letter to JONAH in 2000. This letter lived on their website until they were shut down.
Update: Several people have reached out to him. He's blocked them, been dismissive, and made no attempt to own up to his fakery. This is extremely upsetting.

If the only Queer rights you've ever talked about are the ones in Israel, then your care is not for Queer people, but for Israel's reputation. Do not use Queer people as a prop.

Keeping this private now, but I've just accepted a job offer! I quit my previous job in late January and I've landed an amazing opportunity at a small Jewish nonprofit. More details to come!
My 🌈 wedding was blessed by an actual 🌈 Surreal moment for me and my husband. It reminded us that "There's always a rainbow after rain." Let's hope for continued שמחות and celebrations ✡️

Orthodoxy is a social construct. Social constructs are defined by their communities. If these women define themselves as Orthodox, then they are.
And it's public! I'm officially the new Director of Development and Communications for NECHAMA: Jewish Disaster Relief. I'm honored to have this position and I'm deeply motivated to bring NECHAMA to new heights. For more info, check .

My fiance is a doctor and he could make a huge impact in smaller communities outside New York but we refuse to live where our relationship won't be considered equal.
The Louisiana legislatures anti LGBTQ legislation is driving a highly specialized pediatric doctor, in New Orleans, to leave the state with his family.
I love this photo from my wedding. I had just given a speech about my lack of family support and then we had a stirring moment of solidarity for Israel. You can see my eyes are still red from crying. However, the joy of this moment was immense and I felt everything equally.
The NYT yeshiva coverage is being considered for a Pulitzer, yet the Agudah claims the story is "bad journalism." Maybe they need to be educated further about what quantifies good journalism?
Update: Erez posted a response. I honestly don't appreciate it. Your hardships don't allow you to co-opt the struggles of others. It's not a good excuse. He had so many opportunities to reveal that it was an act and he deliberately didn't. IG post here:

This article is 100% accurate and Hasidic and Ultra-Orthodox children are deprived of an education. I'm from that community and can personally attest to this. Educate yourself before you claim antisemitism.

Except..... Tel Aviv public transit doesn't run on Shabbos, Gay marriage is not legal, only KFP food can be served in hospitals over Pesach, etc. etc. Haredim have immense political power in Israel - which was the subject of this article. Hope this helps!
@simplehockeyfan
You would think. But many people believed it (I always got very strange vibes) and he never denied it. Repeatedly not denying something makes him a falsifier of truth. It's very upsetting.
Girl, what? I honestly wouldn't comment, as drag queens aren't notorious for setting public policy, but people have a veeeery rosy version of life in Gaza for Queer people. If you're going to make a point, don't compare Gaza to any Western country/city.
And to those ignorant fools who have the nerve to tell me I would be decapitated in a heartbeat in Gaza: what about Glasgow? What about Moscow? What about Medford, Malden or Marlborough Massachusetts? As a gay person who can’t pass, as a cross-dresser, as a sissy—they have, they
I just attended a Zoom event hosted by YY Jacobson that openly and proudly peddled conversion therapy. Conversion therapy has been the most destructive experience of my life and has ruined the lives of many others. I personally know of people who committed suicide because of it.
@jewishmemequeen
Thank you for posting this. I'm very proud of my Queer identity. I grew up yeshivish and now I live in a Modox community. I have very little hope for Orthodoxy as a whole, but I do have hope for individuals. By posting this, you renew that hope. Stay strong ✊🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈✡️
To my non-Jewish friends: If you think that influencers like Mattxiv or groups such as JVP speak for American Jews, and as such you are justified in your anti-Israel attitudes, you are wrong. 80% of American Jews consider Israel to be a strong part of their faith. Link below.
It's a Facebook group about Kosher Trader Joe's products! It must be so wholesome and informational! Or so you would think... (JINO means Jew In Name Only)
It's actually really nice to see public support from unexpected sources (Kylie Jenner, for example). Thank you OP for making the list. It's helpful in entirely opposite ways that you intended.
@KimChi_Chic
Stories of marginalization (biased or not) can be particularly triggering for LGBTQ folk. As such, it's become the popular belief to be anti Zionist. I'm a liberal Zionist, it's frustrating to see such extreme reactions to performers who choose to perform in Israel.
For those unaware about the inner natures of conversion therapy, the opinion below by Mr. Frum Worker is a normative opinion and reflects many in the conversion therapy world. Conversion therapy is fucked up and extremely damaging.
The guy promoting conversion therapy for young people lied to his wife about his sexual orientation before marrying her but sure, tell me how effective this therapy is.
Miami - a woman with a Palestine sticker on her laptop was spotted at 'Motek', one of the most popular Israeli eateries in South Florida.
Some patrons were extremely bothered by her/the Palestinian sticker - would you be?
I was able to add my comments. Thank you

for reaching out. I hope it makes clear why it's so damaging to present a one-sided view of an experience that has been a struggle for many. If you want to learn more about a community, make sure your source is accurate.

Latest update: He seems to have acknowledged what he did. However, he is not apologizing or offering any valid reason for his misrepresentation. Sure, create a character as a social experiment. But don't capitalize on the real experiences of others. I don't consider this amends.
