This is why I have no respect for celebs who have woken up after a week to feel bad for Palestinians. These people need a grotesque level of violence to be executed against people to feel sympathy, or pity for them. The struggle for Palestine is a struggle of dignity.

Don't those Muslims who didn't have such generational cultural capital also deserve justice? Those who have been shut out of the economy you speak of? Please, this hand wringing is of no use. We will live with dignity - and we don't need the PM to 'love' us. Just voted out.

To those dealing with the JNU issue as a Afzal vs JNU issue, or one of nationalism - there are some things to consider.

There's a tiny, fantastic bookshop in Lajpat Bhawan!!!! Highly recommended. Found some great stuff for 60-100 bucks.

+ already tagged anti-nationalist: Dalit-bahujan students, always already militarised universities, Kashmiri activists - to be demonised.

There may be chilling, silencing, censorship. But in that case it's better to be silent than commit such acts of complicity.

If people think this isn't real - I know enough cases in India too. Parents, take a look at what podcasts/videos your sons are consuming because it gets real ugly really fast.

One thing that has to be noted is extractive caste labour. In richer, 'progressive' families, the wife may not be expected to do all the dishes/jhadoo/pocha but instead once the couple is well off enough the labour shifts to a poor domestic help, who in turn has

Having a dishwasher has changed my life. I'll never understand why dishwashers aren't popular in India. The so called middle class families can definitely afford them, they take up less space and less water. But no cos it's women's work either wives do it or domestic workers

People forget that Coke has been boycotted, esp by Muslims for decades in parts of the world. A touching scene in Halal Love Story (2020) shows the aversion of elder Muslims to Coke in contexts of the War on Terror.

Folks pointing out that Coca Cola is not on the BDS list are right, & one shouldn't boycott worthwhile initiatives like Coke Studio, but Coca Cola is still a symbol of US imperialism & is a corporation that has done extensive damage. Boycotting their products is still worthwhile.
