Q: If the DNR is committed to tackling climate change, why haven't the permits for Line 3 been revoked?
A: DNR's role as a regulator was to look at aspects of the projects that fall within our purview & we have to do that according to state statutes and rules.

I cannot express how much despair I feel at the prospect of Biden winning. We're aiming at a recession and collapse of the oil industry - an unprecedented opportunity to transition away from fossil fuels at the last minute - and we're poised to miss it with either Biden or Trump

this constant framing of planetary destruction as a fucking football game is Exhibit A in the media's complicity in climate breakdown. Unforgivable stuff.
It's a blow to the future habitability of planet Earth, to the water, to Treaty rights.

Theyโre teachers, health care workers, and business owners who live in communities across our state.
This is unacceptable. They canโt โgo homeโ โ this is their home.

Together, letโs recommit to combating climate change to protect the health and beauty of our state for generations to come.

Love how the negative space of these sites depict the maximum extent of the Laurentide Ice Sheet so clearly. How many amazing sites were erased by glaciation?
if your work as an agency includes approving a Tar Sands Pipeline Expansion in the year 2021 then no, you absolutely cannot claim to to be committed to addressing climate change.
Absolute cowards.
Just so delusional. You literally headed up the agency approving massive tar sands expansion like last week. Stop this completely disingenuous bullshit and please go away.
The systems the powerful claim are meant to protect people and planet and life are consistently broken. Do not trust them or rely on them. Please support direct actions on the front lines however you can.

the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Enbridge in the appeal to the Public Utilities Commission's approval of Enbridge's certificate of need, route permit, and environmental impact statement.
@Enbridge
used Horizontal Directional Drilling to construct Line 3 across 21 rivers. This involved drilling tunnels 60 ft underneath the rivers, and installing pipe into it. To drill these tunnels, contractors lubricated a very large drill bit with drilling fluid.
reminder: it's true - we're entering a new and devistating geologic epoch, but we should call it the Capitalocene, not the Anthropocene. The horizon (climate impacts, mass extinction, global extractive industry) is clearly correlated with the rise of capitalism, not humanity.
The misinformation is coming from inside the house.
Pic of drilling fluid in the waterway directly adjacent to (read - connected to) the Mississippi with Enbridge workers frantically trying to contain it with state of the art brooms(??).
A lot of misinformation is being shared on social about potential frac-outs, especially re: Shell River & Mississippi Headwaters. 9 construction sites have had inadvertent releases of drilling fluid, but Willow River is the only crossing where drilling fluid entered the waterway.

This kind of word salad is how the world dies, one agency checkbox at a time. An unbearably boring way to unleash the apocalypse. Corporations just steamrole through this kind of tepid bs and they'll do it til it all burns if we let em.
There was one release into a river. There were 13 inadvertent releases into a wetland, which is not allowed under our 401 certification. There were 14 additional inadvertent releases in non-surface water areas, although one of these releases flowed into a wetland.

Hopefully. Currently EO data is largely tied up in bonkers license structures behind opaque pay walls. Many of these companies are propped up largely through government contracts anyway... Nationalize them all and open up the data imo.
Interesting - Australia has announced four Earth observation satellites as part of its first national space mission at $1.1B (not much known about the sensor or configuration).
