Chapter 14 was literally the chapter that convinced me CA are just friends on BOTH sides, not just Cloud’s side. If Aerith has no idea what type of way she likes Cloud, why do the CA shippers? The character herself doesn’t even know.

adding a bit of my thoughts on aerith to this -- i think this is why the retrilogy added a characterization to her that didnt really exist in OG: in the retrilogy there's been a mentioned emphasis that aerith gives up easily.

i can see the sector 5 dream date as the devs being meta and cheeky wrt the way they're handling the retrilogy, but mostly i see it as cloud (and aerith) being denied their autonomy and while aerith seems resigned to it and is trying her best, cloud is growing visibly frustrated
