While the City and County of San Diego each moves forward with its own sales tax increase in the upcoming election, the state wants to make it easier to take on debt (which would force property tax increases). Taxpayers are taking hits from all sides.

The headline figure of 1,650 miles of road repair seems impressive, but most this is slurry seal, a preventative measure. Overlay miles (which are more effective) account for much less of the total (only 58 overlay miles planned in Fiscal Year 2025).
