You know what I hear over and over again - that NYC is not enforcing rules against unlicensed street vendors. I’m for increasing licenses but we should do more for the retailers who are paying rent and trying to survive.
My beloved mother passed away this morning as a result of complications from the coronavirus. This is a heartbreaking moment for me, my wife, and our entire family.
Direct cash payments to struggling Americans is smart policy and the right thing to do in a time of crisis.
What was an under-the-radar concept is now in the political mainstream because folks like
@andrewyang
aggressively fought for it.
This will bring people real relief.
I am disgusted by the anti-Semitic attack on
@BernieSanders
.
This is a man who lost family in the Holocaust—to raise a Nazi flag against him is absolutely appalling.
We must condemn hate and white supremacy at every turn.
Thinking of my mom, Arlene Stringer-Cuevas. She was a trailblazer and a real force, who loved New York more than anyone, and devoted her life to making it better for everyone.
She died a year ago today due to COVID-19.
Tweets are great. I’m divesting $4 billion from the fossil fuel industry. And here’s my detailed plan to combat the climate crisis.
#solutionsnotgimmicks
Making New York City more resilient to climate change is literally a matter of life and death - we know another storm and flood will come and many New Yorkers yet live in vulnerable unprotected low-lying areas.
No New Yorker should wait longer than six minutes for a subway or bus ride.
Send me to City Hall to revolutionize our transportation system and deliver the world-class transit NYC needs.
Cracking down on street vendors is part of the criminalization of poverty.
It’s not just a moral failure, it’s a policy decision that would have disastrous consequences for our undocumented neighbors.
We can’t have a leader who tweets first and thinks second.
New York needs Democrats in Congress who think big and challenge the status quo.
@JamaalBowmanNY
is determined to roll up his sleeves and fight for an America that works for everyone—not just the privileged and the powerful.
I’m proud to endorse his campaign for Congress.
Wow. I am so honored to have earned
@Biaggi4NY
and
@NYCComptroller
’s endorsements and to fight alongside them in the pursuit of the social, economic, racial, and environmental justice for the Bronx and Westchester.
We are building a strong coalition to deliver change in

I’m not a celebrity — I’ve spent my life in the trenches fighting for New Yorkers and for bold, progressive change.
And on Day One, I’ll suit up and be ready to lead our City to its greatest comeback.

The Federal government owes $40 billion to NYCHA.
The nation’s homeless population could be housed for $10 billion a year — less than the price of one aircraft carrier.
Think about that.

@JamaalBowmanNY
has the movement—and the momentum—behind him.
Had a great time greeting voters in Co-op City and spreading the good word about his trailblazing campaign.
The
@NYWFP

@ewarren
has been a voice of moral clarity and heart throughout this crisis.
When she called me after the loss of my mother, I was so moved by her words and the depth of her genuine compassion for my family.
I’m so sorry for the loss of her brother. My heart breaks for her.
My oldest brother, Don Reed, died from coronavirus on Tuesday evening. He joined the Air Force at 19 and spent his career in the military, including five and a half years off and on in combat in Vietnam. He was charming and funny, a natural leader.
In the fight for big, structural change, we need all hands on deck.
NYC, come join
@ewarren
and
@JulianCastro
tomorrow night and show support for bold progressive change.
Because
@bkdems
has failed to take action to hold Lori Maslow accountable, I will not be participating in the party's upcoming forum. I look forward to many other forums and conversations in Brooklyn. We cannot equivocate with hate.
There are no words to express how much the outpouring of love and support has meant to me,
@elysebuxbaum
, and our entire family, since mom’s passing. And it especially means the world to Carlos.
Your kindness has brought us comfort in this time, and we're forever grateful.
I’ve spent my life fighting for bold, progressive change — from housing and climate change, to racial equity and criminal justice reform.
Send me to City Hall and I will deliver a transformative agenda to build a more fair and just city for everyone.
Newsflash: teachers are not an "interest group" — they're essential workers educating the next generation of New Yorkers, and I know firsthand how tirelessly they work for our kids.
We don't need a mayor who uses cheap anti-labor talking points to disparage true public servants.
Today
@AndrewYang
spoke more about his criticisms of UFT in the school reopening debate.
"I think New York is tired of political candidates who will watch every word around what many of us may feel because it will antagonize a particular interest group."
I’m so honored to have your support,
@UFT
!
Our teachers are heroes. They can do anything—we’ve seen that this last year. Together, we’re going to win this election, take our schools to new heights, & bring about New York's greatest comeback—with our children at the heart of it!
We're facing real challenges as a nation, and we need big, structural change.
✅Accessible childcare
✅Affordable housing
✅Criminal justice reform
✅Fighting climate change
@ewarren
has plans for all of that and more—and that's why she has my support.
Today I am announcing my endorsement of
@Biaggi4NY
. Alessandra Biaggi is the voice we need to bring honesty and integrity to the State Senate. I look forward to standing by her side as we fight for the progressive values we share.
During my first term in office, we’ll double bike ridership.
I will launch a first-of-its-kind bike-to-school plan, connecting lower-income students with bikes and bike share, and build 100 miles of new bike lanes in 2 years -- 350 in five.

Today, New York City officially sends two new rising stars to Congress. Congratulations to our Democratic Congressmembers
@JamaalBowmanNY
&
@RitchieTorres

I’m so grateful for your friendship and support, Congressman
@JamaalBowmanNY
!
Thank you for joining me to petition in the Bronx bright and early and in the freezing cold. ☀️
Thank you for your endorsement,
@NYWFP
!
We’re marching together to fight for a progressive vision that upends the status quo and lifts up working people, communities of color, and immigrant New Yorkers.
I couldn’t ask for a better partner in this fight — now let’s go win!
I just find this critique of
@ewarren
really strange.
Proposing big ideas are what campaigns are all about.
Our nominee should put our progressive marker down and, when elected, fight like hell to do the most good.
I’m endorsing
@SalazarSenate18
because I know she’ll fight for tenants in Albany. Julia Salazar is committed to strengthening our rent laws, investing in affordable housing and ensuring our neighborhoods are affordable for all.
🧵 I’ve spent my career fighting for bold, progressive change on the issues that matter most to our city.
I’m not going to campaign on gimmicks. If you want to know what I’ll do as mayor, you can find the answers -- in detail -- in my policy proposals.
The time for incremental plans is over. We need a transportation transformation.
My vision: change the streetscape by introducing superblocks to New York City. Let’s redesign our streets for open space and communities.
.
@CoreyinNYC
was a formidable candidate, and he will make major contributions in other ways for a long time to come. His candor about sobriety and mental health is courageous and vital for so many who face similar challenges. He's a true public servant.
New York City should lead the nation in ensuring that safe abortion care is accessible to all people.
As Mayor, I’ll do what I’ve always done — use my voice to advance the cause of reproductive freedom and oppose those who attack it.
There is no gray to this issue.
My friend
@JamaalBowmanNY
has always been a bold leader in educational equity.
We’re going to unlock the potential of our kids — and our city — together.
I have a plan to get it done by putting two teachers in every classroom K-to-5.

Proud to endorse
@CabanForQueens
for Queens DA — we have an opportunity to elect a voice for transformational change for our criminal justice system. Let’s get it done!
Just dropped off more than 25,000 petition signatures to qualify for the mayoral primary ballot!
I’m so proud of our campaign. Block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood, borough by borough, we are offering New Yorkers a vision and a message of recovery and fairness.
As Mayor, I’ll never turn my back on Chinatown — or any of our great neighborhoods. I was grateful to
@yuhline
for introducing me today to her neighbors and friends. She knows everyone!
.
@IAMLORISUE
’s bigoted remarks were repugnant and fall woefully short of what we expect from any public representative. Our Palestinian and Asian neighbors should be respected, not dehumanized. She should immediately resign as district leader.
There are as many as 20,000 street vendors in NYC — and they are all part of the fabric of our city.
This is a community that had to fight to survive during the pandemic, and were excluded from COVID-19 relief, because of leaders who failed to see them and their contributions.
Tonight was not only about the amazing, inspiring candidates willing to take on powerful interests. It was also about the unwavering commitment of activists & organizers of the
@NoIDCNY
movement who, against all odds, never gave up & fought to the end. Thank you for all you did.
I’ve been in the trenches with the
@UFT
— in tough campaigns and tough policy fights. And together we always win.
Let’s do it again for our city’s future!
We can make this happen in New York City too!
As Mayor, I would implement Universal Affordable Housing so every new building with ten units or more — anywhere in the city — includes 25% for deeply affordable housing. No exceptions.
This is the paradigm shift we need.
Starting in 2021, developers in Montreal will be required by law to set aside 20% of new housing units for social housing, 20% for affordable housing, and 10 to 20% for family-size units, or pay the city compensation in land or cash.
It will require a transformational investment to put our kids on a new, upward trajectory after the pandemic.
My vision: make NYC the 1st school system in America to put 2 teachers in every classroom, so we can change the game for students, teachers, and families like Sandra’s.
Our taxi drivers made an investment in our city, yet they have been rewarded with exploitation.
An inclusive economy must end the cycle and center workers' rights.
When I’m Mayor, we'll secure real debt relief. Help is on the way.

I am grateful that my boys have had a place nearby to get fresh air and run around this past year.
Let's make that a reality for every family in this City. By the end of my first term, I’ll make sure that every New Yorker lives within walking distance of a park or playground.
I’m proud to have led NYC toward the first and largest fossil-fuel divestment of any pension system in the nation — but this is only the beginning.
As Mayor, I will deliver a future that is fossil fuel-free, green, sustainable and resilient.
I lost my mom to COVID-19, so helping New Yorkers who are struggling amid the pandemic is extremely personal for me.
We must make sure no community is left behind as we build back stronger and fairer than before.
We’re building a grassroot movement to take climate leadership into City Hall and deliver a true Green New Deal for NYC’s future — and with the support of
@sunrisemvmtnyc

We’re in this fight together.

We shouldn’t have in-person petitioning to qualify for the June primary during a pandemic.

you could not be more spectacularly wrong. Trump humanely ended child smuggling & saved countless lives. Your heartless open borders agenda, implemented by Biden, is the world’s biggest gift to evil child smugglers—enriching cartels & endangering countless lives.

Today I'm proposing a sweeping climate plan that would make New York City the national leader in the fight against climate change.
The climate crisis requires bold and urgent action.
This is why I'm running—and what we all owe our children.
Read here:
Growing up in Washington Heights, it was clear the Cross-Bronx Expressway was a monument to environmental injustice.
It’s time to scale our highways back and build out more greenspace.
It's part of my plan for a transportation transformation in NYC:
Biden's plan also includes a new $20 billion program aimed at redressing the effects of past discriminatory transportation policy, by among other things "reconnecting neighborhoods cut off by historic investments."
This is a worthy challenge from
@TransAlt
that I'll gladly take on as Mayor.
Reclaiming our streets for people is key to bringing our city forward from this pandemic, building healthier communities and taking on climate change.
#NYC25x25
Today we launch
#NYC25x25

As we recover from the pandemic, we must create a more equitable, safe, & resilient city for generations to come.
