On September 24th, Deputy Governor Mark Holloway and Programmes Officer Sheena represented HMP Inverness at the National Recovery Walk in Paisley. They were delighted to meet two brothers formerly in custody who were proudly carrying the banner to promote the message of Recovery.

Bob, a Residential FLM at HMP Castle Huntly, has set up a music workshop for those in our care after seeing the positive impact of music therapy at HMP Perth. ‘Vox Liminis’ participants are taught songwriting, how to play instruments and the intricacies of music production.

HMP Barlinnie's Family Contact Officers have been busy distributing 'Night Before Christmas' bags, and gifts to the children who visit Barlinnie, kindly donated by @SpiritAid . They also held a Carol Concert last week, led by the establishment's Chaplain, Fiona.

Chaplains Eddie McDonald and Martin Forrest led an Armistice Day service at HMP Low Moss's new memorial garden this morning. Built by staff and residents, it has a monument built from broken pool tables, with a Spitfire model, and a mural of a shadow of a soldier and poppies.

With the support of @spaceartscot , individuals at HMP Glenochil have been making sunflowers to raise funds for the @decappeal in Ukraine. Flowers are being distributed to local businesses and shops, each with a QR code attached that can be scanned to donate vital funds.

SPS has recently concluded missives to acquire a 22 hectare site from National Grid at Provenmill, in the Germiston area of Glasgow. The site acquisition will be conditional upon SPS obtaining planning permission in principle for a new prison to replace HMP Barlinnie. (1)

Exercise plays a big role in supporting mental health and wellbeing. Last week, HMP&YOI Cornton Vale welcomed Danny from @StenhousemuirFC who led a football session. Everyone took part in football games and competitions, practiced penalty kicks, and took on the crossbar challenge

HMP Edinburgh welcomed families of those in our care to enjoy a range of activities as part of their annual ‘Family Week’. This was a huge collaborative effort between SPS, @HMP_edinburghVC and a wide range of partners and we are grateful to everyone for making it such a success!
