Unpaid internships allow privileged students who don’t need the money to get ahead of those who need to to be paid in order to afford rent, food, and tuition.
It’s a constant cycle, that allows wealthier students to capitalize on an opportunity others simply can’t afford.
For the first time my two sisters and I are all working the same NHL game tonight (Leafs vs Kings).
Emily works for MLSE.
Mackenzie work for the NHL.
And I work for Yahoo Sports.
If you want to know the impact of introducing girls to sport from a young age just look at us.
When I was 19 I DM’d
@katienolan
asking if I could job shadow her for an assignment.
I spent 4 days with the team at Garbage Time & was in awe of her and the teams talent, knowledge, & work ethic.
She never even had to reply to me, but she did, & that’s why she’s different.
In my personal experience, I had to decline 2 internships because they were unpaid, one of which excepted “40-60 hour weeks” making it next to impossible to handle a part time job on top of it.
I’m so sick of the media industry telling students this is “what you have to do”
My friend told me she got a Leafs jersey for Christmas.
Me: “What player?”
Friend: “The Coach!”
Me: “huh?”
Friend: “Ya! There’s a C on the jersey for the coach! Tavares or something?”
Marc Gasol being rumoured to leave the NBA but actually ending up with the Lakers is like when you ex says they don't want a relationship right now but they start dating someone new 2 weeks later.
You know the times have changed in Toronto when the bar puts the Raptors pre-game show on the main screens with audio and puts the Leafs game on mute in the corner.
It's been 1 year since I was laid off and I wanted to share what I've learned.
1. Your job isn't your identity, or at least it shouldn't have to be
2. Sharing your work on social media is important, be proud of what you make.
3. People are rooting for you more than you think.
Some good has finally come out of 2020, Im no longer a free agent!
I've officially joined

EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋♀️ I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates! Visit for more information on your registrations, pre-sales and on-sales!!
I’m at a bar in Peterborough Ontario and they have Beyoncé on the women’s washroom door and Justin Timberlake on the Men’s.
I’m not sure what to make of this.
She endlessly supports young women in this industry, she even has a twitter list dedicated to it, so to see my timeline filled with support for her is exactly the backing she deserves.
Also to slander Garbage Time when it was so ahead of its time is just stupid & lazy.
Harry keeps mentioning how The Queen was "Wonderful throughout" and the others were just "welcoming at first" which feels like they may only have a relationship with the Queen, and no one else.

Regardless of podium standings, these performances by Max Parrot and Mark McMorris are insane comeback stories.
Parrot coming back from cancer.
McMorris coming back from a near death injury.
Both back on the Olympic podium.

Apologies to my team for being logged into the CBC Olympics YouTube account while I watched Taylor Swift live concert videos for 2 hours.
Our discover page is now a mess.
Also can we please just have a moment of appreciation for
@AndiPetrillo
who’s been covering the quest for World Cup qualifying, is hosting this game while freezing in Hamilton, and then tomorrow starts a 3 week grind of hosting the Olympics!?
If you want some entertainment for your Sunday evening,
@ddlovato
showed her boyfriend camp rock 1 & 2 for the first time and posted the entire experience on Instagram stories and it’s amazing.
Day 1:
#Beijing2022
🥇
Walking to work to cover my 4th Olympic Games with CBC.
Our 2nd in 6 months.
We’re bringing you not 2…but 6 digital shows this time around. Let’s do this.
The halftime show being able to takeover the entire field like this is so much cooler than having random fans surround a stage. Never bring that back.

Life update: Bought a cottage with my parents in Nova Scotia on the same street my mom grew up .
I feel like this is the perfect setting for me to finally write a romance novel.
…and we’re off ✈️✨🤍
Time to head off for my first Olympic Games on location, can’t wait to bring Canadians all the action.
See you in Paris 🇫🇷
#Paris2024
At the World Relays in the spring, a reporter asked USA’s Noah Lyles if he saw Canada as a threat in the 4x100m in Paris.
“Who? Who?”
He laughed it off.
With Lyles sidelined, the USA were disqualified today and Canada won gold.
Day 1/21 straight days of
#Tokyo2020
content and coverage starts today.
Starting TOMORROW night, our daily live show The Extra Hour streams live from 6-7pm est
Our little studio is filling the gap, and giving everyone truly 24/7 of Olympic streaming.
See you there (hopefully)
I’m not a movie critique but I got to see

, it was beautiful & it felt like I was watching Princess Diana on screen in a documentary or something.
I tried to see Kristin Stewart as herself and couldn’t. She was Diana.
Anyways give her the Oscar.
✨ Reminder that everything happens for a reason ✨
2 years later I’ve overseen production of a digital studio on an Olympic Games, and working ahead on another games in February
Started managing a team of talented content producers
Grew an audience on TikTok over 110,000+

In January 2016 I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Jan 2017- I thought I was fine.
Jan 2018- I thought I was great.
Jan 2019- I thought I was cured.
Jan 2020- I had symptoms for the first time in 4 years.
Mental health is an ongoing fight.

So we're announcing our roles on
#Tokyo2020
?
I will be doing my job as a Digital Studio Producer, yes it's the same job I do everyday but it's going to be different because it'll be my beloved studio's Olympic debut!!
Here's me testing cameras, and looking thrilled about it.
Unfollowing people from highschool who post long IG captions about how “Making us wear Masks is just another way for the government to control us” and it’s very freeing.
Toronto sports fans should understand better than anyone that sometimes a player just wants to come home.
That’s literally the only reason John Tavares is a Maple Leaf.
Will never forget when I was asked in a job interview:
“If you accept this job will you be able to hold your own with the boys”
How insane of a thing to ask a young woman who’s starting her career? You would never ask a man if he could “hang with the wonen” on a team.
Everyone’s making their Olympic announcements and no I’m not going to Beijing, but I’ll be back in our beloved digital content studio overseeing all production of our 5 digital shows 🎥🤳🏻(up from 2 in Tokyo)
2 Olympics in 6 months. The stress is real. Let’s do this.
@instagram
I've had this on my account for about a month now and I love it! You don't even notice you're not seeing the likes after a while. I feel like it's definitely helped with focusing on content over popularity.
Back to sitting in my living room, working from home, waiting for an Ontario covid press conference to begin.....nothing's really changed in 2 years eh?
I have literally zero time for these Chicago players denying knowing anything about what happened.
"We just focused on hockey"
"Not sure how long he spent on the team"
"I mean ya maybe we hope it was handled differently"
I watched a woman stand outside Winners, literally saying to herself "no I don't need anything..no I don't" then took 3 steps, stopped, turned around and under her breath said "Ah screw it" and walked in.
It was like I was watching myself.
