Say hello to our fuzzy friend. SDZWA celebrated the 241st California condor hatching at the Safari Park on March 13th. This tiny thunderbird is being puppet-reared and will be released into the wild when it reaches adulthood as part of the California Condor Recovery Program.

Scientists at SDZWA discovered two California condor chicks have hatched from unfertilized eggs. This sort of asexual reproduction, known as parthenogenesis, is a first for the species and provides new hope for their recovery. Read more:
🚨Code Red🚨 We're thrilled to announce the birth of an endangered red panda cub on Jun 9 to first-time mom Adira. Adira has adjusted well to her motherly role and is doing a panda-stic job tending to her tiny cub, which she will do over the next couple of months.
It's a puggle party 🎉 Earlier this year, the Safari Park welcomed two tiny short-beaked echidna puggles nicknamed OJ and PJ. Both puggles are growing up strong and are critical to their Species Survival Plan. Learn more:
We're excited to announce that Amur leopard Satka recently gave birth to a rare set of twins. Amur leopards are the most endangered big cat species in the world and this marks the third time twin Amur leopard cubs have been born at the Zoo.
Capy to report that Rosalina and Bowie are the new proud parents to four capybara pups. Don't let their little legs fool you, these little pups are already up and, on the move, following mom and exploring their new surroundings.
Paws for big news 🐾 Two critically endangered Sumatran tiger cubs were born at San Diego Zoo Safari Park on July 12th. Wildlife care specialists say the cubs, a male and female, are nursing frequently and that their mother Diana is a very attentive first-time mom.
It's the floppy ears for us. The Safari Park recently welcomed a new hoppy okapi calf on December 28th to third time mom Mbaya. The little guy is full of spunk and spends lots of time nursing. Guests will be able to see him on habitat soon as he continues to grow strong and tall.

Golden boy ✨ We're happy to announce golden takin, Bona, gave birth to a male calf on March 3. This marks the third time a golden takin has been born in the Western Hemisphere and at the Zoo.
Slurp 🍼 To provide Msituni with the best possible care for her legs, she was separated from her mother & wasn't able to nurse from her. Wildlife Care Specialists bottle feed this leggy lady 4300ML of milk 3 times a day now that she's healed & back in the field with the tower.
Hold your horses, we've got exciting news🐴 SDZWA recently welcomed an endangered Przewalski’s horse, the first P-horse foal born at the Park since 2014. This bouncy bundle of joy is settling in well with the herd & is critical to conserving the genetic diversity of the species.
We can bear-ly contain our excitement to announce that Andean bear Alba gave birth to TWO cubs. This marks the second time twin Andean bear cubs have been born at the San Diego Zoo. Alba and her new cubs are doing well, with Alba keeping the newborns nice and warm in the den.
