Dear
@StarbucksUK
a deaf person asked a staff member in your Manchester store to repeat themselves and pointed their hearing aids. The staff member then asked how
#deaf
they were and said they sounded drunk (at 10am)! This is unacceptable. staff need deaf awareness training ASAP
‼️Dear
@clarksshoes
a mother and wheelchair user was today told “we can’t help you, you’ll have to go to another branch” because your children’s department is upstairs with no wheelchair access. This is unacceptable!!! When she explained that usually staff can bring down … 1/2
… measuring equipment and shoes to her and her child, the staff member said he would only agree to this if she agreed to definitely buying a pair of shoes! Is this your policy on accessibility? Do your staff have disability awareness training? 2/2
If you are struggling this Christmas & aren't sure if you can buy your child a gift, DM me your address and I'll send you a signed copy of my book (already wrapped) so they have something to open on

#authors
up for doing the same comment below
#bookpresent
#plsRT
These comments are deeply ableist! She can speak, she chose not to because she has another language at her disposal BSL. There are many ways to communicate and it’s her choice. Straining to hear and lipread and speak are seriously tiring
#GBBO
Grief can hit you from nowhere. My Dad died two and a half years ago and I was reading a lovely book on the train and then out of nowhere the book mentioned the condition my Dad died of and I suddenly welled up! Sending love to everyone who has lost someone 💜💚💙

@PhoRestaurant
The vibe of not being able to have a conversation! Music is so often too loud in restaurants especially when busy and adds to the background noise. Sorry this happened to you
THIS ISN'T SUBTITLED! Please This Morning, I love you but make your videos accessible for the deaf, especially when you are talking about
#DeafAwarenessWeek
⚠️
We mark Deaf Awareness Week by starting the show with some sign language.
Across all of the daytime shows, we are raising awareness of deafness and hearing loss which affects 1 in 6 adults in the UK.
@HuishGregg
If you don’t like her fine but your comment about her not being able to speak is offensive. She chose to use her other language BSL. It’s like a French person who has been speaking English for everyone’s benefit choosing to go back to French cos it’s easier when they are tired
I LOVED interviewing

this afternoon about her new documentary out tomorrow! We had so much to chat about 💜 she’s a great human 🦻🧏♀️📺 Don’t miss ‘Signs for Change’ tomorrow on BBC1 at 9pm, I’ll be watching.
@RachelCDailey
This is veering off topic but it annoys me that I have to prove I'm deaf every time I apply for my disabled persons Railcard(yearly). I'm not going to magically not be deaf next year ... 🤷♀️
Lovely time chatting deaf dating with

@BBCRadio2

It's really important to be aware of the statement "please remember the need for this seat may not be immediately obvious"! For example a Deaf person may need to sit in a priority seat to see station signs clearly out of the window ....
@ActionOnHearing
Yesterday was the anniversary of my Dad's death and I spent it with my family. Sending love to anyone going through grief or difficult times. I'd really recommend the podcast
@thegriefcast
which helped me and I got to be a guest on it too ♥️
My book is out in 3 days! Please retweet to spread awareness so we can find people who need it. I hope it helps people feel seen and should provide practical advice too! 🦻💜🧏♀️

Just got the news: I AM NOW OFFICIALLY DIVORCED!!!! 🎉🎉 Had a laugh cry and now I'm excited. You just get it in an email which is weird too, it should have a fanfare or something... after all you've been through every
#divorced
person deserves a fanfare!
Subtitles are so important for the

community,
@rnid_uk

You can actually buy radar keys that open disabled toilets on Amazon for £6 however we shouldn’t have to, disabled people should have the access they deserve
Here's that Monopoly board flooring a couple found when they pulled up their carpet! As discussed on

@StarbucksUK
Thank you for replying. Can I ask if your UK staff have had deaf awareness and disability training or if they is something you plan to implement? I’d love to be kept up to date with the progress of this with the district managers please.
TV people: "we want personal stories, we welcome people with disabilities"
Also TV people: "writing about your personal experiences of living with a hearing aid is too niche"
Me: 11million people in the UK are living with some form of hearing loss

It’s not my experience it’s another deaf person who got in contact with me but I’m trying to use my little profile to make sure her story is heard!

people are legally recognised as disabled, despite not being allowed to compete in the Paralympics and not being included in many disabled benefit schemes! Disability isn’t a bad word, it’s an incredible community! Photo by
