Like what many industry veterans have pointed out in QRTs, the underlying problem in this cut lies in the storyboard. Whoever drew the storyboard clearly didn't think how difficult this shot is from the animator's perspective, even more so when you've only got inexperienced ones.

Full body shot + difficult walking cycle + perspective = nightmare. And that's not considering how badly managed the project is. There's not enough time to correct everyone's mistakes. Sometimes you need a moderately easy to animate storyboard, especially when you lack manpower.

Hisashi Eguchi was absolutely being exploited here, not only they offered him such a low figure (60k Yen or $480/month), Sega's Sonic team also said they liked Eguchi's idea so much (Sonic's ∞ running form) and would use it in the game but offered no monetary compensation.

@NCephery There's been many discourses about this, most animators find this kind of shot annoying, a full body shot when it can be done with a waist up shot instead, needlessly ambiguous perspective, etc. If you have limited resources, you need to know when to cut some corners.

RT So it seems Chainsaw Man base salary are 250Yen/pic for in-between, and 2500Yen/cut for cleanup. Some testimony say layout was around 2500~3000 Yen/cut, and key animation was around 5000Yen/cut. Although some animators did successfully negotiate their pays to 15k~20k Yen/cut.

It's amazing that Sirius the Jaeger first two episodes were finished about half a year ago, with such great quality. And as expected, Masahiro Sato delievered strong action again. Yuliy's finishing attack + his jump kick to save the little girl from zombie is my favorite part.
