71-year old man who became lost is recovering after being rescued Sunday night by Axel and Cst. MacDonald. Axel found the man in a wooded area off Eldersley Ave just before 8pm laying on the ground and semi-conscious.
Several officers carried the man to the road to EMS.
Our thoughts and prayers are with RCMP in N.S. as they deal with the loss of a colleague and a friend, Constable Heidi Stevenson, a 23 year member, wife and mother of 2. Also, strength to the families of all the victims of today’s tragedy. Standing together always!

A proud moment at today's Remembrance Day ceremony at TD Station
While on duty, Constable Nick Henderson, one of our newest officers, took a moment to honour his great grandfather, Victor Burrill.
Victor is a WWII veteran who enlisted in 1943 at the age of 17 with his parents'
28.8 pounds. That is how much the vest and gear weighs that officers with the SJPF carry with them every day while on duty. Saluting all 142 members of the SJPF this week as we celebrate National Police Week May-10-16.

Excellent work by Constable Peter Haslett in assisting an 84-year old woman with mobility issues, from her home on Sun, Jan-10/21. SJPF/SJFD were called to a home where a hot water tank malfunctioned and home filled with steam. Job well done Cst. Haslett.
Salute to Lawton's McAllister Place for the delivery of 30 care packages full of items to utilize during the pandemic. Our officers in turn took the packages to Men's Outflow Shelter to utilize. Together, we are stronger and will get through this!

Gorgeous day for a ride! Constable Cory Jamieson while on patrol in the North End, had a great chat with Ryan who always wears his helmet when out for a cruise.
4 children and a dog are safe after falling through the ice on the St. John River this afternoon off Westfield Rd. Thanks to SJFD Water Rescue for getting the dog to shore. Fluctuating temps in recent days means the ice may not be safe to be out on so be careful!

Another great animal save by SJPF! This morning, Insp. Hayes found these two dogs walking down a 4 lane highway. With the help of a nice lady, they got them in his car. Dr. Catherine Adams from Fairvale Animal Hospital was able to help Flint and Spirit find their owners!
Update 2: NBCC Grandview Avenue Campus. The campus remains on lockdown while police conduct a thorough search of the campus and continue to investigate the source of the lockdown. No signs of threat to the safety of students or staff at this time. More info to follow.
In conjunction with officials from the SPCA, SJPF is investigating an incident of alleged animal abuse.
A video was posted to a social media platform and SJPF and SPCA officials are aware. SJPF and SPCA thank everyone for their calls and concern about this matter.

In response to COVID-19, all NB issued driver’s licences, vehicle registration
certificates and inspection stickers valid as of March 16th, 20, shall remain valid until May 31st, 2020. This does not include any licence or registration that is currently under suspension.

31-year old Thomas was reported missing on Dec-16-2019 after his family had not seen or heard from him in six days.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. today, as a result of an on-going investigation by the Street Crime Unit, a 30 year old male was arrested after a brief foot chase. Police Dog Services - Axel, located a quantity of drugs and the male was held for a court appearance.
