In case you didn’t know we are celebrating our 150th birthday this summer. It is Sacred Heart Feast Day so the children wanted to send a special message.
What an emotional end of year assembly and collective worship. Farewells to Miss Ranford and Mr Mason, a special Wandsworth award for a star footballer and goodbye to Year 6. Not a dry eye in the house.
We have just received the report from our recent Section 48 inspection and have been judged outstanding in all categories. This judgement is owned by everyone associated with the Sacred Heart school community. Thank you for your commitment and support.
All teachers have been in school over the last two days making final preparations for re-opening. The school is looking great and we are excited to welcome everyone back. See you tomorrow.
This year we are celebrating our 150th anniversary. As part of our historical research we have located memorials of pupils who died during WW1. When we were in Ypres we laid a wreath at the Menin Gate in memory of John William Collins, a pupil

parliamentary reception last night. They were especially pleased to meet the MP for Newcastle Upon Tyne North, Sacred Heart alumna, Catherine McKinnell.
Year 5 - French Trip - An afternoon stop in St.Omer. We walked around the town, visited a boulangerie and toured the cathedral. We found the Pope’s prayer for the Ukraine in French.
Today we took a group of pupils to Oxford. At Magdalen College they listened to a talk on C.S. Lewis and the world of Narnia. After lunch they visited Jesus College. As they walked through Oxford they visited some of the locations that inspired C.S.Lewis.

Here is something we have not seen for a while - children on an outing to a London attraction. Looks like Year 6 are having a great time at the Imperial War Museum.

As we prepare for Sacred Heart Feast Day next Friday we have repositioned our statue of Jesus. We asked the children to place their Sacred Heart prayer stones under the statue’s plinth.
Year 5 - French Trip - A busy, busy day (and it is not over yet!). So far…..Langemark German Cemetery, Ypres and Tyne Cot. We laid a special wreath at the Menin Gate in Ypres.
This morning we have had an amazing farewell mass in the playground. It is goodbye and good luck to all those children and teachers who are leaving us. We wish everyone in our Sacred Heart family a happy and restful summer break.
Today we held a Mufti Day to raise over £400 to support CAFOD’s Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal.We are helping to provide urgent food, water and shelter to survivors of the earthquake.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your support this week. It was great to see all the children back and so involved in their learning activities.
Today a group of year 5 and 6 children have set off on an adventure. They in their way to Newcastle for the Sacred Heart Network’s Heartfest. Stage 1 of the journey complete!
At the end of what has been a long Autumn Term, the staff and governors would like to thank all of our Sacred Heart community for its continued support. We wish you all a holy and restful Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
Today has been a special day. We have had a Day of Many Colours at Sacred Heart when everyone came dressed in the five colours of the Mission Together Rosary. After special assemblies from Sheila Isaac we created a human Rosary 📿 in the playground and crowned Mary.
After an early start and busy morning at Sacred Heart Fenham, we all joined together for a celebration liturgy to complete Heartfest. We are now on our way home.
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and this week there have been some special DT activities and a cake sale. Today we had a “mufti-day” for charity. Monies raised will go to PADS (Positive about Down Syndrome) and a charity
supporting children with Down Syndrome in Rwanda.

At 11 o’clock we held a 2 minutes Remembrance Day silence in the playground. Mr Gibbons read “In Flanders Fields” before the silence and then Mr Mather played the Last Post.
And another year comes to an end as ee say goodbye to Year 6 with an amazingly uplifting Mass at St.Joseph’s. Thank you Father Alberto for blessing the pupils’ special 150th Anniversary badges.

An amazing culmination to our UNICEF Week and 150th Anniversary celebrations - we went back to 1872 with a Victorian dress-up day and summer fair! We also welcomed Fleur Anderson MP to open events and help us bury our 150th Time Capsule. Thank you to our whole community.❤️

Yesterday, 14 Year 4 children went to Canary Wharf to take part in the St. James’ Place Squash Classic. We got to play squash against England Pro Declan James and we tested our reflexes, speed and skills in some fun, interactive games. What a great afternoon!
On St. Madeleine Sophie’s Feast Day we have chosen to focus on her words, “Your mission is great, it includes the whole world”. They have reminded us of our Laudato Si mission. Here is a video of the song we were taught by Bethany from
