ππ» Hi friends, I'm back!
I've been MIA for the last week or so as I took time off of work, coding, social media, etc. to ensure I could reset, avoid burnout, and have a killer last quarter of the year.
So lets get after it πͺπ»
I'm starting a new series that I'll be live-streaming:
Meet the Team behind
#GridironSurvivor
!
This will be a once-per-week live-stream featuring different members of Gridiron Survivor where we'll learn more about them, their journey, and more.
First up is
@iamwix
on July 24 @
I may not be at
@ThatConference
but Iβm still glad I can partake in the keynotes.
I wish I was able to partake in the massive Ro Sham Bo game though!
I am feeling physically and emotionally burnt out and itβs only Tuesday.
Send me your positive energy folks, I could use it β₯οΈ
Iβm excited to just sit down at my desk and start building things again
If you are at

ππ» Hey all, just letting you know there will be no streams this week as I am in the final stages of preparing for my move and then actually moving this weekend.

π¨BIG NEWS ALERTπ¨
After last nights stream, Iβve been made a Twitch Affiliate!
What does this mean?
For you, youβll get access to new emotes, channel points, and the ability to support me further with channel subs and bits.
I just got an email that a company I applied to that they wonβt be moving forward with my application.
Why was I happy to get that?
Bc normally I get nothing at all. Being ghosted by companies you apply for should not be the norm.

No one warned me that testing would be such a big part of things... I really think more education material should address testing for self-taught developers.
We released the alpha for

Lots of bugs to squash and some good feedback coming from users already. I'm ready to get to work on improving the app πͺπ»

Being off work today allowed me to dive into a full day of coding and live streaming, which felt incredibly rewarding. Here's a recap of my day:

Why? Open Spaces!

I am going to bring a conference to Dallas for devs but it is going to have a twist. I have been on multiple calls since planning yesterday.
I am aiming for November.
The twist?
100% OF ALL THE MONEY from tickets will go to charity.
After finally getting some sleep after THAT

The question is, what do I focus on first? Is anyone else struggling with what to focus on? And if so, how are you managing it?
Just finished a productive Saturday of coding π»

- Digital cleanup and organization

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to pick one thing to work on today, to the point I'm sitting here doing nothing.
How do you get over this paralysis by too much choice?
Today was a busy day, but my output doesn't seem to reflect that. My brain was slow to start, and I struggled with getting NextJS to cooperate. However,I managed to push a couple of PRs for Gridiron Survivor (GIS) and Deals for Devs.
Unfortunately, the GIS PR requires more work
Had a couple of rough weeks focus-wise but Iβm happy to be back on it!
Last night I attacked a ticket Iβve had far too long for

and the code flowed like water down a stream.
We are so back π
Not the finished product but close!
Created a loading spinner component for

I usually sit at my day job waiting to go home so I can do some coding.
Yesterday I was off of work so I spent most of my day coding and it was GLORIOUS.

Shoutout Friday this week goes to

THAT Conference... what an experience.
The stores, wisdom, and knowledge shared this week was next level. It has lit a fire under me and I am ready to go despite needing more sleep.
We've just launched our "Introduction to front-end testing" learning path! π₯³
As developers, we aim to create robust applications, especially in production. This path outlines how to test your applications to increase confidence in your code and ensure it functions as expected.
This is so incredibly relatable. Chris and I spoke earlier today, and I hate to say it, but I'm feeling the same way today; and have been for a little bit.
I'm not burnt out, but I'm tired.
But I absolutely love web development and also want to enjoy what I do for work for
Today, I'm feeling the weight of my career transition into full-stack web development. For the past 2.5 years, it's been like juggling two full-time jobs. Keeping up with X posts, Discord notifications, writing articles, joining coding cohorts, and attending conferences is

Iβm currently committing to 5 days on, 2 days off for all things surrounding web development, my personal brand, etc. Sunday is one of those days off and I plan to prioritize a lack of screen time.
Working hard is important, but time off is just as important in my opinion.
Home Depot opened up their latest cohort of Software Engineering Apprentices - Remote/US only.
Please share with your network - ideal opportunity for folks looking for their first technology role.
(Not my role/company - please donβt DM me about it!)
Today I've continued refining my PR that started out incredibly simple but the addition of tests changed that.
Most recently I edited the Playwright config file to use a different baseURL and webServer for the main and develop branch (as well as any branches made from develop)
Let's share some of our wins for this week! ππ»
I'll start:
- Became a Twitch Affiliate
Streaming is something I've always had interest in, but I never took it seriously. Last week I decided to stream while learning so I could kill two birds with one stone.
