@Transgendertrd @guardian I do personally feel that it's still tough to be an effeminate boy in school. In my own work I'm seeing stigma in films targeted specifically at GNC as opposed to homosexuality itself. It is still widespread across Europe and needs addressing :(.

On the last day of this year's LGBT+ History Month - the day I submit my book on bottoming to my publisher - I'm remembering those who have been punished by law for what the 1533 Buggery Act called 'the detestable and abominable vice of buggery'.

I visited Kyiv in 2018. In 1944 my great-grandparents fled their home in Ukraine for Romania due to the Red Army. Romania welcomed Ukrainian refugees then and I see they will welcome at least 500,000 now. Thoughts and prayers are with Ukrainians wherever they are.

@darrengrimes_ You need to be careful about simply retweeting quotations out of context. Scruton was not a neo-liberal and disapproved quite strongly of Thatcher. He is not, I think, a 'modern conservative'. More like old school Toryism, far from individualism.

John Craxton, now largely unfamiliar, was a fascinating “neo-Romantic” painter who pulsated figurative colour into a dreary post-war abstract scene in the 1940s and 50s. Fleeing English repression & homophobia, he felt free in Crete, with sunshine and sailors. ⛵️🏳️‍🌈☀️

@Aaron_GDAC A lot of effort seems to go into "dispelling myths" that LGB people are GNC. "Effeminate≠gay" etc. But a majority of LG people at least are GNC, especially in childhood. We need more honest discussions about adult homosexuality and GNC I think.
