#IndieAnimationDay
Almost every single storyboard class, roundtable, webinar, study group, etc. I’ve ever been in has brought up this scene in one way or another as an excellent example on how to set up an action scene
Seeing people freaking out over the inspiration of this character is hilarious to me. Cause loving fictional character(s) so much to the point where you turn them into your own OCs is more common than one might think
Animators: What is the worst misconception about the animation industry you’ve ever heard?
The biggest one for me is - *shows an in between frame* “Wow the animators sure have gotten lazy”
For Clarification:
There's James Baxter the animator, who's worked for Disney, Dreamworks Animation and is now working with Netflix
and there's James Baxter the horse, his self insert OC in the show Adventure Time
For those sad about this not being greenlight, just know that creator Elizabeth Ito has a show coming to Netflix called City of Ghosts that’ll be in a similar animated documentary style
I've seen many complain about how "ugly" and "unnatural" the way the characters in One Piece cry. But if you ask me, this is the most accurate depiction of crying ever. It's never the single tear. It's ALWAYS overflowing and snot gets everywhere. You're always a mess when crying
For those you wondering why so many young artists are creating such stellar pieces of work these days, just remember that there’s far more better, in depth and FREE resources out there now than there ever was when many of us were younger
So it’s “support indie animation” unless it’s something you don’t personally like? Alright, I see how it is
Also news flash: You don’t HAVE to like/back every single indie project if you don’t want to. But that doesn’t excuse you tearing it down and everyone making it
The Kickstarter for ‘ADULTING: The Animated Series’ has launched.
The series follows the story of two absurdly codependent sisters as they try to find themselves in a world where every other person over 30 seems to have their stuff together.

“Article comes out of animation workers being treated like garbage and greedy CEOs fucking them over constantly”
Random people on social media: “See the issue here lies with the animation workers-..”
Me:
What makes this even funnier for me is the fact that both drawings were done by the storyboard artists for this episode, KC Green and Lyle Partridge respectfully
Can we PLEASE STOP this miss-understanding of "Cal-Arts Style"
Calarts is an art school in California with a top level animation program. It's not a dumping ground of "ruined childhoods" "ugly cartoons" or those goddamn "bean face smilelies" that everyone is obsessed about
This is legit one of my favorite shorts of all time. It’s seriously one of the many shorts that inspired me to peruse animation as a career. It’s also one of my favorite examples of storytelling ever
The quote doesn't surprise me, but it's still an incredibly dim view of what artists do. To see the visual side as interchangeable mush to slather under your precious verbal jokes is to not at all comprehend the strengths or potential of the medium you work in.
It amuses me that many still assume that 2D animation is “dead” despite the fact that if you look closely, there’s a boat load of 2D animated shows, movies, indie projects, etc. out there
Shoutout to all trans/non-binary peeps who don’t plan on taking HRT, don’t do top/bottom surgery, keep their original name, retain some of their pronouns, are all around cis-presenting but very much trans at heart
I can still adore the Spiderverse films and still acknowledge how important it is to pay your animators + artists and not rely on crunch to get amazing stuff done
With the more recent talk about global warming and the possibility of a climate catastrophe, I feel like it's really important to watch this clip from the OK KO+Captain Planet crossover episode (also dont forget to vote)
This movie hits so close to home for me as an Iranian American who’s immediate family lived through and escaped Iran during the revolution. It’s honestly required viewing no matter who you are. I also highly recommend the graphic novels this is based on
[France] "Perspepolis" animated movie by Marjane Satrapi & Vincent Paronnaud (2007) has been remastered and will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray in France on October 18 by Studio Canal.
I may get flack for this but I just can’t bring myself to deleting decades of posts from any of my platforms despite the fact that they’ll get put through an A/I generator without my consent
So many animation artists have been unemployed for months or even years and you’re saying they don’t deserve work just cause of them working on show YOU don’t like?!?? Wow… that’s really low. Fuck right off
First look at Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon’s new movie, ‘UNDER THE BOARDWALK’.
The movie had no advertisement and will be hitting theaters on October 27.
There is no “If” the animation guild strikes, it’s WHEN cause it’s gotten so bad for many artists working in the industry for years now. Since TAG has become nationwide, now more than ever do we deserve to be treated better
Send your support to not just animation artists who’re still looking for work, but also those who’ve been trying to get into the industry with little to no success. Especially nowadays, it’s been extremely competitive and hate seeing so many amazing artists not given a chance
@Acuna_Mattata
HOLY SHIT THANK YOU I COULDNT STAND THAT EPISODE EITHER!!! This was back in the day when I used to collect Webkinz, so it was especially hard for me to sympathize with Carly
I would gladly wait another 10 years for the next Spiderverse film, I’m not kidding. I’d much rather watch something where the artists and animators behind it weren’t in crunch mode at any point of production. We can absolutely wait
I hope within the negotiations for TAG, one of them is to let entry level jobs ACTUALLY be entry level. I still don’t understand why they expect us to have 3+ years of experience for a job that’s supposed to be for green artists. Like huh???!?
Every time I see this fight scene, I keep thinking back to how they were able recruit over 10 different animators from around the world to bring this entire sequence to life
