This morning at 2:08 AM, we lost my dad from this world. He died in comfortable peace with family close by, in his own home as he hoped. A kind, godly great grandfather who loved, guided, and provided for his own and others. He was the best man I've known. I love you dad. RIP.

I accompanied my daughter to a meeting with her employer re. getting a moral exemption for the joyjab. Proud of her. She articulated in a simple way why she objects. Meeting was cordial and it doesn't appear she will lose her job. Thanks to God for answered prayers.

Today dad had a dizzy spell, falling right in front of me, hitting his head on concrete steps. I was only able to slightly break his fall. Sad, humbling, profound thing to see parents in decline. To be the one responsible for not only your own wife and kids but your parents too.

It's a travesty that schools abandoned what we called "shop" or "industrial arts". In my day in Junior High alone, we had woodworking, metalworking, we tore down and rebuilt Lawn Boy mowers, we learned rudimentary metal casting, did mechanical drawing, and typesetting.

I was able to go to confession and mass this morning. The sacraments are such a solace after having to be around evangelicals all week planning dad's funeral. I'm the only Catholic in the family. Scripture and hymns are great, but can't compare to efficacy of real sacraments.
