🚨 Hello! I’m a Publishing MA student researching the representation of women of colour on illustrated romance novel covers.
Reader response is a huge component, so I'd be very grateful if you took my survey:
It’s anonymous and open to everyone! 🚨
I’m so excited to be working with
@kitchalong
on her brilliant, terrifying speculative horror THE FOREST BLEEDS 🌲🦌🩸
The secluded mansion setting of MEXICAN GOTHIC, the twisted psychological games of SUCCESSION, and a dark academia twist. . . y’all are not ready!!
absolutely THRILLED to announce that I’m now represented by

!! Rose’s vision for THE FOREST BLEEDS meshed so perfectly with mine and I’m so excited to partner with her on my publishing journey!!
"Send me romantasy with strong fantasy and romance elements – it needs to have solid worldbuilding and plot as well as off-the-charts chemistry. I would love to see more queer (especially sapphic) romantasy!"

Give me ALL THE ROMANCE! I’m particularly interested in contemporary and fantasy romance, but I’m open to any subgenre, including historical.
I’m a big fan of unlikely pairings, sharp Emily Henry-esque dialogue, and epistolary elements.
HEA/HFN required.
Send me your FANTASY ROMANCE! I’m looking for equal strength in the fantasy and romance aspects – it needs to have solid plot and worldbuilding alongside off-the-charts chemistry. I would love to see more queer (especially sapphic) romantasy!
So beyond proud of Nadia, who wrote tirelessly over short lunch breaks and long nights to craft this cozy, sexy dream of a book (only for me to devour it in 24 hours) 😌🥐✨
OCT 2024 PUT IT IN YOUR CALENDARS
For all genre fiction, I don’t need you to reinvent the wheel – I love genre conventions and I love tropes, and I want to see them done well from a fun, fresh perspective.
If I didn’t mention something, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good fit. Unless it’s a genre I don’t represent, you’re more than welcome to query!
My submission guidelines are here:
It’s FOR THE WOLF day!! 🐺🌲✨
I was lucky enough to read this book a few months ago and it’s lived in my heart ever since. It has romance, a spooky sentient forest, and one of my favourite sister relationships ever.

For science fiction, I’m looking for space opera and science fantasy like GIDEON THE NINTH, SOME DESPERATE GLORY and THE SCOURGE BETWEEN STARS. It doesn’t need to be fast and loud – TO BE TAUGHT, IF FORTUNATE is a favourite – but it needs to have major sf elements.
Please don’t worry about something being too low or high heat to send to me. Different spice levels work for different books, and I’m open to all of it.
There’s nothing better than a side quest where a random NPC asks you to collect something that you already have. Like yeah, the flowers you need for your very important potions have been rotting at the bottom of my rucksack for weeks. take twelve. take twenty! go nuts
Look what arrived today! I loved Waiting for Tom Hanks and I can’t wait to read Chloe’s story. Also, the pink on the cover is even better in real life. 💘
I’d love to see more romance featuring queer (especially aro/ace-spec) and autistic characters, whether those are central to the plot or just character traits. Talia Hibbert and Chloe Liese are the blueprint.
Send me your cozy fantasy – meadows and cottages and stews and forests. I would love to see something Ghibli-esque that deals with big emotions and themes in a cozy setting.
Cover launch! We are pleased to present

I don't have many complaints about living in the UK, but I’ve just discovered a big one: the Oreo packaging is bad and the cookies have no structural integrity.
Had so much fun documenting

One of the best parts of editing is figuring out which word a writer was going to use, but instead replaced with a not-quite-right synonym pulled from a thesaurus. Today: "harvesting" relationships.
Sorrel has always followed the rules, but when she discovers a pack of Surprising Seeds, trouble begins to grow in unexpected places 🌱

I e-mailed a librarian asking for research of hers that isn't online. Not only did she send it to me, but she included a list of other resources and recommendations on how to access them. We love librarians!
I’m also looking for speculative romance in general, whether it has a big SFF element like THE UNDERTAKING OF HART AND MERCY and WINTER’S ORBIT or a romance with speculative elements like WITCHFUL THINKING and THE EX HEX.
Today, surrounded by authors I admire and people who’ve dedicated their lives to sharing stories, I was reminded how lucky I am to have this job. Let’s go make some books 📚
What's the biggest problem you have with your name?
My biggest problem?
Me: "Hi, I'm Marcus. Nice to meet you."
Business people: "Hi, Marcus. Do you go by Mark?"
Me: "No. If I did then don't you think I'd introduce myself as that?"
Never heard more laughter from an audience (myself included) than at

The responses have been amazing, and I look forward to sharing this research as soon as I can!
Asking for Coke and getting Pepsi is one thing, but I just searched Netflix for Dirty Dancing and they suggested the 2011 version of Footloose instead.
I’m looking for upmarket thrillers that use an engaging thriller premise to explore personal/social issues. THE ECHO WIFE and WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING live rent-free in my brain.
