Shortly after I moved to Ghana in October 2017 I ran the Accra International Marathon where I first met William Amponsah. I came 2nd in the 10K race and he had won the 21k race by an absolute mile. William was only 17 but showed great potential so I helped him out...1/4
William ran a 21 second PB tonight in a time of 13 minutes and 51 seconds, breaking his own National Record and placing 13th out of 20 runners. A tremendous achievement and, at the age of 22, he has a decade or more of top level running ahead of him. Congratulations William
In partnership with
@AthleticsGhana
we have secured William Amponsah an Elite place at the Great North Run in Newcastle, UK on 11th September. This is the world's largest Half Marathon with over 60,000 runners. William will be the first ever Ghanaian Elite to run the GNR.
