Why do we need to resource 10,000 new “lay-led churches” (sic.) in the CofE? We already have over 12,500 parish churches many of which are currently under resourced in terms of people, clergy and money. How about we give them some resources for growth instead?

For just a moment it felt like the Christian faith, and a particularly Anglican expression of it, was back at the heart of our national life, and it makes me wonder why we are so shy and reticent about it at other times.

Please repeat: “the vocation of the Church is the worship of almighty God and the proclamation of the gospel.” Our good works flow from this core, but without this at the core we soon lose any Christian distinctiveness.

Very few of my parishioners have homes large enough to host 20-30 people for anything, let alone worship. I can’t help but see this as a sign of an increasingly affluent suburban middle-class church. Don’t get me started on the second sentence.

There’s a lot of buzz about the “new normal” and online church. I’ve been asking my congregation their opinions about lockdown and church life. Overwhelming response: we want church to return to as near to normal as soon as possible.

Hey CofE! Pls stop framing vocations initiatives in terms of replacing numbers for those retiring over the next 10 years. This is neither a positive message about ministry, nor is it how God inspires people to discover who and what they are called to be. Thanks.

We usually average 1 baptism per month - i.e. 12 in a year. Doing the stats for mission reveals we celebrated only 1 baptism in 2020. The cost of closed churches is the privation of saving grace.
