Github Actions: You can cancel in progress builds with the new (to me) concurrency variable. Just add the cancel-in-progress: true, and any new pushes to the same branch will cancel old builds. 💸

We recently found that the new 2021 M1 MacBooks cut our Android build times in half. So for a team of 9, $32k of laptops will actually save $100k in productivity over 2022. The break-even point happens at 3 months. TL;DR Engineering hours are much more expensive than laptops!

This may not be new for most people, but I only just learnt about this feature 🙈 Instead of adding logs to show when a certain part of your code has been hit for debugging, you can enable a "breakpoint hit" message and disable suspending your application at that point. ✨

Update! 📸 There is a new, better way to get a bitmap from a Composable in Compose 💅 Using the new GraphicsLayer APIs, we can call record on a GraphicsLayer - and toBitmap() on it, instead of needing to use the Android Picture class. #JetpackCompose

Did you know? When debugging with Bitmaps in Android Studio, you can click on the "View Bitmap" option next to the variable and your current in-memory bitmap will render nicely for you to inspect what it looks like at that point 🖼 #AndroidDev

Flow Layouts aren't just useful for flowing to the next row or column, but they can also be used for creating grids by using maxItemsInEachRow! I made a fun little example of using it #JetpackCompose

My remote work advice: do whatever you want. Whether that's working from the couch, taking a nap to get energy, taking a midday shower or working from bed. If you make strict rules on yourself, it's like being in a normal office so what's the point? Find what works for you 👍
