Visited a Hawaiian owned cafe, PŌ’AI by Pono Potions. They use locally sourced ingredients in their syrups! Their Ali’i Kula lavender syrup was delicious in both their matcha latte & their lemonade — I also reccomend grabbing a slice of ‘ulu mai’a bread 🤤🤍

Bringing this back around!! Hapa is for those mixed with Hawaiian. It doesn’t mean mixed-Asian. & no, I do not care if a person from Hawai’i told you it’s okay. It’s not your place to use hapa.

RE: the use of ‘hapa’ by non-Hawaiians It is especially inappropriate to use a Hawaiian word for mixed Asians who are not Hawaiian because AsianAms in Hawai’i are complicit in settler colonialism. If you are not Hawaiian, ‘hapa’ isn’t for you.
