@LozzaFox
I'm here right now in Portofino Italy, at the very heart of the scorching hellscape... Seems quite pleasant to me actually. They seem to have mastered the issue with this thing called aircon, cold drinks and that lovely blue wet stuff.
@Culture_Crit
Coincidentally, I'm standing looking over Florence tonight with my family as the sun goes down. Stunning
(So god knows why I looked at Twitter

@LozzaFox
Hell we even managed to WALK up and down 464 steps from our place to the beach twice a day without an air conditioned Stannah Stairlift, what with my kids not being built like Augustus Gloop.
We even raced each other up it a few times counting the steps.
@HumzaYousaf
On the bright side, next election you will be out of power, so you'll have plenty of time to become anonymous again and hide out in some gravy train gifting NGO.
@RichardBurgon
As Ricky Gervais said as they all arrive at Dover on the boats "Women and children first, oh, just you lads then is it".
They are economic migrants taking advantage of middle class midwits who will never be affected by their presence, expect maybe for getting a cheap cleaner.
@Lordflashh3art
@bbcweather
I was in the heart of the Italian Scorch Storm yesterday in Portofino. The very earthly manifestation of Hades itself. Turned out it Hell is rather pleasant, they had beer and this lovely wet blue stuff that one could go swimming in. We had a marvellous time.
@doctor_oxford
I think most people that respond to these sorts of comments grew up on leafy pleasant suburban estates or the like. I grew up in an utter shit tip of a council estate and I can tell you right now, this is always down to parental fecklessness.
@m_herbert
I'm curious, is the mother required to exit stage left before or after the breast feeding phase is finished. I suppose it depends on the contract?
@aidojones
A Ranger a Wildtrack. Dependable and sturdy. I've got one of those. Crunched three under 4's this week I have, what with not knowing how to drive a car and use my eyes and that. Mind you the local FedEx guy said he'd smashed into 8, what with his being even bigger van.
@DaveAtherton20
@PhilipDwyer_MOI
A lifetime of reading history, studying politics and economics. I get one vote, he gets one vote. There has to be a better way than this!! My God Churchill was right about democracy.
@JamesMelville
I'm in Italy in the "eye of the fire" right now. Their version v reality.
That lovely blue wet stuff seems to act as a cooling agent I can report.
@AporiaMatt
Speaking as a European, Europe has become a statist, overregulated, museum addicted to welfare with awful productivity and totally reliant on immigrant labour.
@shoshanahjacobs
@AnnadeBuisseret
Statistically luck only exists for a subset of a superset. A superset cannot be "lucky" by definition of it being the superset or whole.
Or in the language of a five year old "if no one is dying, that ain't luck"
@IsabelOakeshott
Isabel, take you from someone who lived in an area like that for 10 years in the 70's and 80's, this has always existed, this will always exist. I grew up with the underclass, this is how they live.
@Rainmaker1973
I hate to disappoint you but they don't run away anyway. Ours wander round the garden happily and then climb into the coup every night. There are no fences, they could walk away any time they like.
But they might occasionally wander in the kitchen!
@RobertKennedyJr
You should do Rogan along with some other long form podcasts. It's really the only way now to ensure you don't get a hatchet job done on you. Besides you'd get more reach.
@StuartAndrew
@rachaelblackmor
@DCMS
I cannot speak directly for Elon Musk but if I was a betting man I would be prepared to wager that when you demand action from X about Joey Barton you might get a reply that looks a little bit like this.
@ClownWorld_
I'm going to trademark my new formula. It never lets me down
NOSE RING + BLUE HAIR = UNSTABLE
N+B=U
PS. Also applies to green and purple hair.
@Andy66202501
I was exactly the same. The whole thing was a midwit unthinking man's wet dream. "Look how good I am at rule following Mr Government, do I get more status points?"
I came out the other end bitterly disappointed in people, with a deep seated loathing and mistrust of the state.
@afneil
This will only get worse. As the government borrows and prints more money and debases the currency further.
Then, potentially 9+ years of a socialist government, spending/borrowing even more and increasing taxes even further.
Tax rates will only go in one direction
@Aiannucci
But not ironically their ability to get served in a bar, where they seem pretty keen to be able to quote an ID when required.
Of course it's designed to put off younger voters but if your barrier to entry for voting is an ID then, maybe you shouldn't vote?
@cyclingweekly
You do not need the ludicrous prefix "assigned at birth". You know calling them women is a lie. It might be a kind lie, a progressive lie, a lie in what you think is the right direction for society but you know in your gut it's a lie as the words leave your mouth.
@BretWeinstein
@elonmusk
In Sam Harris' head that may have been a subliminal objective but my Lord you'd have to have one hell of an ego to think you leaving Twitter could achieve that.
Mind you as my Irish wife said when she heard his podcast "Christ this lad sounds delighted with himself"
@il0venostalgia
Sewing machine threaders?? My mother had a load of them (amongst other weird singer shuttles and bits) and a 1901 Singer in a handmade cabinet by her uncle. Was in our house for years. Now sits at my sister's in France fully restored
@davidyelland
Precisely, multiculturalism is tremendous. Without it I would never have gotten a part time house keeper so cheaply or found such a spiffing nanny prepared to graft 18 hours a day. They do like grafting the old semi-questionably legal's don't they?
@JohnSimpsonNews
A genuine question; how do you know with any objective certainty you "know what you are talking about" to the point it should not be challenged? For that is what you insinuate here.
@BeckettUnite
If I’m being brutally honest mate, it merely convinces me that potentially a large significant proportion of the population sees the world through a childlike lens in terms of economics and utility. I think you do sadly.
Production and the provision of utility are not a zero-sum
@Nigel_Farage
This is absolutely shocking, but sadly, it's a taste of things to come. Right now, your money is held in a bank. That bank can be influenced by government authorities, but things are about to get much worse.
"He who controls the money controls the world," as Henry Kissinger
@afneil
“But of course, you wouldn’t want the American system now, would you?”
(as if there are only two healthcare models available to the whole of humanity to choose from)
@RTEUpfront
My 12-year-old son, who lived in England until three years ago, and has an accent like Harry Potter, is forced to waste hours every single week speaking a bloody dead language. What a chronic opportunity cost this is. He could be learning to prompt AI, coding, learning how
@KirstieMAllsopp
I normally agree with you on most things but on this I don’t. Gyrating, twerking drag queens telling children stories is not going to convince the government of Uganda to suddenly start championing man-on-man action. If anything, it’s going to make them look at the West and go
@invest_answers
@elonmusk
It's like Atlas Shrugged. Next "in the spirit of fairness" he will be forced to "share his technology" to "aid the American people".
Ayn Rand saw all of this coming up years ago.
@afneil
Then, as AI starts to consume white collar jobs, less and less people will contribute to the tax base. We currently tax "labour", how do we tax a robot?
Then there's the inversion of the population as less and less people reproduce
Taxes are going to go up and up, up and up.
@WxNB_

@MenofManual
The more honest description: "Spend $50 to colour you head in black to attempt to look less bald, leaving your pillow looking like you're a chimney sweep in the morning"
@jordanbpeterson
I've never really understood this automatic right to inclusion thing that they insist on. It's just not darwinian. You're included in a hierarchy and hierarchy is governed by status. A low status individual cannot demand status. You cannot insist on how people see you. The self
@IvanOnTech
UK government sees: 5% thugs rioting, 95% citizens who "love multiculturalism" because to not do is "racist".
Reality: 50% population pissed off with massive immigration, 20 really pissed off with it and 5% thugs that will riot over this. Only people who are in favour of mass
@Culture_Crit
I was there last week. Every inch of the place is astonishing in its detail. The sheer number of incredibly skilled people required to do this is mind boggling. Plus the heat here in the summer would have been horrendous to work in
@jessphillips
I know it was so terribly disappointing, the Israelis were waiting with bated breath, ready to put down their rocket launchers at a moment's notice too. They were particularly, particularly keen to see what the SNP had to say on the issue
@BocktheRobber
A little math and logic
American/Brit Software Engineer/Doctor: GDP generated (100k+pa) > drain on resources
Unskilled migrant GDP generated < drain on resources
@afneil
San Francisco's current state is not a product of rapid capitalism. Rather, it's a response to over 40 years of monetary policy in the United States that has consistently devalued the currency, resulting in assets falling into more concentrated hands.
When money is "melting,"
@DrJimFan
I've been playing with this a good bit. My team of five, picked a leader and then proceeded to wrap themselves up in planning knots, arranging meeting, summerising and issuing orders at each other in a doom loop. It made me laugh, just like real life. All planning and no work!
Just watching
#Blur
live on the BBC. They are fucking storming it. I am 55 this year and their first album came out when I was in my last year at university on 91. Fuck that's a long time ago. A whole adult life. Coxen is so underrated. No flash, just interesting.
@terrychristian
Can you imagine living in Terry Christians head? Wakes up, opens his eyes "Brexit, brexit, brexit", wife "Cup of tea dear", Terry, "Brexit, brexit, brexit". Endless, endless "brexit, brexit, brexit".
@stillgray
What a quaint idea - imagine market demand by customers dictating what the shop stocks!
“You will buy what we bloody well tell you to buy”, according to this gentleman.
