#rottmnt fans: One thing I haven't told you, is that after we were told that the show was being "paused", the writers were given six weeks to write FOUR FINALE EPISODES. That is an INCREDIBLY short amount of time, and it's insane that we were able to do it.

Another #rottmnt ep that I'm sad was cut: Dog Dale Afternoon. April learns that Baba Yaga cursed Dale to be a werewolf, but he doesn't know what's happening to him. @scottmenville as Dale is HILARIOUS, and Josh Brener is pure fire! Damn this was a funny episode.

Why I love Rise Raph: Two of my many favorite TV characters are Popeye and Herman Munster. Both are sweet, loving, moral, innocent and tender, but capable of kicking serious ass if pushed. Rise Raph isn't irrational or moody, he's just...good, and good at good-doing. #rottmnt

@CharmyWizard A very conscious choice. We wanted this iteration to focus on love. They are a non-traditional family. We also wanted Splinter to feel like a father, instead of as a cold, detached sensei, and for the boys to call him Dad, Pop, etc, not just Master. Glad you like it!

You might be able to tell approximately when we got notified that the show wasn't going to continue, and if you are super-astute, you might be able to figure out which episodes were written, and could have gotten to board stage or animatic before they got scrapped.

@PricklyDapper When we wrote for the 2012 series, it was always hard to come up with fun stuff for Leo, b/c all we had to work with was "he's the leader." Making Raph the leader opened up so many possibilities for Leo, and gave us new angles for Raph too. Not a knock on 2012-I love that show+

Fun #rottmnt fact: In "Pizza Puffs", when sickly Leo runs his face-man scam on the baker, @rejectedjokes did maybe two takes, then we asked him to ignore the script and say whatever he remembered. I think the improv'd result was more sickly and weird.

Fun #rottmnt fact: When actors see words on paper that aren't written the way they expect, they do their best to pronounce them. Brandon saw the word "omigosh" and pronounced it "oh me gosh", instead of "oh m' gosh". It was hilarious, so we asked him to keep doing it!

I think the Duo is right. Lou would have had to swipe all of the turtle birth certificates when he exploded Draxum's lab, and I doubt evil Draxum was canon about keeping Cabbage Patch Turtles' birth certificates.

I bought Raph and Splints. I thought Raphie's snaggle-toof is more "iconic", as is Splinter's grill. Shredder was a bit too butch for me and I couldn't pull off the April mask on account of social mores. The other big smiles conflict with my trademark resting bitch face.

@bastardbeewoman I never wanted Leo to become the leader. I really don't think there's anything special about "leading", but I also thought it was a real kick to the ass of Raph who worked so hard outside of his comfort zone to keep his brothers safe.

"Origami Tsunami" was the first completed #rottmnt script, before we knew what the series was going to be about, or how the mysticism worked, or how the characters spoke, or what the pilot was gonna be about. Some ideas were lost in the process.
