In Palestine photography was almost entirely monopolized by men until Karima Aboud كريمة عبود broke the norm making her the first Palestinian female photographer. Karima was born in Bethlehem in 1894 to a family of Lebanese descent, later displaced to Nazareth.

It is Nakba day. When I was a child, my g. parents were always asking me to tell them a story. They loved hearing my stories & silly jokes. They made me a story teller. How ironic, because it's their own story that I share with you next.

I’ve been slowly but surely working on building a family tree and I just found a wedding pic of my husband’s grandmother’s paternal great grandparents who were born in Jerusalem/Palestine in 1880 & 1895. I showed teta (grandma) the pic and the resemblance is striking.
